Hey guys, well i havn't been training MMA for about a month now due to some changes in my life, im still trying to come to terms with that part of my life being over. I am also a classic over trainer at the gym, so i tarted a new program written by jim weindler. Its the 5 3 1 program. It only takes me about 45 minutes, 4 times a week. So in the last month i went from training 16 hours a week to just 3 hours a week. At first it was nice to catch up on sleep but now i just feel like a lazy ass. So much free time compared to before. I still work more than full time hours but i did before to. It is ok to be on a program like this right? I feel like i should go to the gym and just lift for hours... i just need some reaffirmation that our muscles grow at home and not in the gym. Please tell me im not lazy!!

CCH once again solid advice bro
Why did you quite the MMA? Was it because you werent meeting your bodybuilding goals? I am the exact opposite. I quite lifting in order to meet my boxing MT goals.

It was because my 5 yr old asked me to so we could spend more time together... that was very hard to hear... twice... i could still train a little bit but not enough that my coach would let me fight.. and im a 100% or not at all kinda guy...i still ask him if i can train one more time to fight and he gets pouty and tells me he likes spending time together.. i guess its time to be a father and not a fighter... hard to accept i love mma..

there is kids programs where i lift but not where i train mma.. and i train for up to 3 hours at a time.. i have to put being a father first i think..

Yes,a father first.
Just to re-affirm your original question....yes, rest is essential for growth. I'd sleep 12 hours a day if I could for the extra growth and recovery. :)
