First off, I'd like to say Merry Christmas to all. On that note, I made a pig of myself, fortunately it was a healthy feast. My only concern was yesterday, I knocked off an entire shrimp ring to myself. I understand the protein works out to a gram per shrimp, but it's the cholesterol i"m concerned with. Do you think eating these on a regular basis is detrimental between the sodium and cholesterol?

Does the good outweigh the bad in this case?

thanks guys.

19 grams protein per 100 grams... much more than 1 gram per shrimp i belive.. and many belive the cholesterol from seafood to be good cholesterol and not worry about it... i would say the good out weighs the bad, fairly healthy on the snack scale..

You can get a lot of the "sodium" out by boiling them first, the frying the water out and then cooking them in a little bit of olive oil and fresh garlic. Tastes great and will help reduce the sodium a fair bit. I would imagine must of the sodium comes from the whole living in salt water or the fact that some are pre cooked too.
