This is actually kind of in reply to Faller's post about how the world is getting more and more obese. Check here fore thread: http://www.canadabodybuilding.com/forums/showthread.php?p=333228#post333228

These statistics don't surprise me at all, I thought Canada would be on the list though. I actually used to work in a clothing store and since I was on commission I had to go in the fitting rooms (not in the stalls lol) and complimented whoever was trying clothing even if it did not fit well, hahah!. Anyway, I can tell you that approximately 70% of people were fat, almost every guy trying on a guy had a good big belly or excessive fat someplace else. I didn't really assist the women trying out clothes but I would say that the majority of women I know could benefit from working out a bit. Don't get me wrong I see a lot of very fit women at the gym but AS SOON as I leave the gym, I notice all kinds of fat rolls on women where there shouldn't be any. I know a great number of girls who keep complaining to me, why can't I lose weight?, how can I get rid of this fat on my thighs!! I try to give them good advice when I get questions like these, but it really frustrates me when I see the same girls munching on chips every hour or so and never eating a single fruit. Sometimes when these girls ask me how come they're not physically fit, I seriously feel like answering: "BECAUSE YOU EAT LIKE A COW AND YOU ALWAYS FIND EXCUSES TO AVOID THE GYM".

Just go to any food court at your nearest shopping mall and you'll see how the majority of people eat horribly. Nutrition is the most important part to staying fit, if you go to the gym everyday and you eat crap, you'll mostly get crap results. What pisses me off the most, is when guys and girls complain about their physique and always have to blame it on lack of time or even on their bad genetics when really the only problem (with society in general today) is that people have a hard time getting their act together. Most people expect everything to be handed to them as soon as possible and without having to work for it.They want to download movies before they’ve made it to the theater and hear the latest music before the wax on the record has been pressed. It’s all about getting next year’s model, the phone of tomorrow and newest the gadget. They can't stand waiting and they have to get the results now without having to go through any from of process to get there. People want to have abs and buns of steel without having to go through the process of actually going to the gym and eating well. This is why so much of these useless "Only 5 minutes a day" exercise gadgets sell without providing any real results.

Wow, I didn't plan on writing that long of a text but I got carried away lol. I know it sounds like I'm a grumpy old man ranting on the generation of today but I'm actually only 21 years old and I seem to notice, more than ever before, how people seem to want immediate gratification withouht actually having to work for anything. Thoughts?

people are generaly lazy, unmotivated, amd frankly just unconcerned when it comes to there health. I think some people start to lose control and slowly just give up on ever being fit or looking the way they want to, when if they actually took the time to educate themselves about proper nutrition and excersize they would be far better off. Its not that hard to be healthy, you just have to want to, after a short adaptation period it becomes a new lifestyle and doesnt require much effort. Its important to surround yourself with happy healthy people with common interests. I always try and help people learn about good eating and lifestyle, but some people just couldnt be concerned. It will be the same people who end up needing it most. Seeing shows like the biggest loser really puts into perpective how litle some people know. When you look at the way they ate before the show, its clear that they have a serious lack of knowledge.

'You're so lucky".... The most common crap to come out of people's mouth's when they see how fit one looks. The lazy, quick fix mentallity keeps the billion dollar "health" industry alive and well and divorce lawyer's rolling in the money. People just don't seem to want to put effort into anything anymore, and that spills over into their lives in general. Be it health, marriage or just dressing up respectfully when going out in public.

Its a lot easier to take a pill, move on to the next spouse or throw on a pair of sweats when going down town..... And i am speaking in GENERAL terms, not singleing anyone out..

I've had this discussion with friends and they sometimes say I'm a superficial asshole...or as Oprah would say, it's the person you are on the inside that's important. As long as you're happy, that's all that matters....sure so keep feeling happy munching on that KFC chicken and don't complain.

The funniest conversation was with a fat friend on POF who was complaining none of the hot chicks he writes to respond to him. So I asked him what his criteria was for search and he said it was athletic and thin physique. I asked him to broaden it to 'Average' at least to improve his chances and he said "Are you kidding? I'm not going to waste time on a fat chick". Very ironic.

Ever notice how people ask you for advice to lose weight even though they have no intention of following through on your advice?
Anyway, now I just do what I have to do for myself and keep my mouth shut.

Truly a funny situation; if it wasn't so sad. I KNOW that I need to watch my diet better then I do now but, I felt skinny while I was walking through the shopping malls this year. I just could not believe the number of people I saw that must be at least 300 pounds. What is that? Like a 60% body fat? Or higher?

Actually its not sad as much as it is scary. How long can these people live like this before seeing a heart attack is a common event while you shop at Walmart?
