Everytime when I`d diet and say I`d just go buy a diet pepsi, I`d end up going back to buy penny candies and other crap. I stay away from it.

fruit and veggie juice and water > diet pop

i am definitely guilty of drinking a few pop every now and again...but i prefer orange juice and V8 or tomato juice with lots of pepper.

when it comes to pepsi and coke...i try to tell myself that there is no way something black is doing anything but bad to my system.

if you absolutely have to have pop and crave sugar, get some strawberrys or something sweet...maybe that will help?? frozen grapes and bananas are a pretty tasty too.

I like Diet pop... Chery coke Zero is THE BEST, and I like pepsi max once in a while. It doesn't make me crave anything, instead it totally fixes the sweet craving for me. I can either have a pop a day or 2 pieces of gum... that's just the "rule" I've set for myself...
6 weeks out, I lose all sugar substitutes except in my protein shakes... I kinda like the caffine fix! lol (I don't take any caffine so sometimes that diet pop just gets me through the day!)

wish 30mg of caffine got me through the day.

i love diet coke, drink 5-6 of them a day when I am off work, 1-2 when at work, black coffee otherwise.

Prefer diet drinks over the regular ones.

I consume so little sugar that any of those "real" pops are too sweet...

Subsitute with aspartame if I really get cravings for carbs or sweets...

Are people really this stupid? One of the most widely additives used in foods today is BAD FOR PEOPLE AND IT HASN"T BEEN BANNED BY THE FDA? Why? For 40 years? Are they ignoring these 'studies' and why? Or are they jsut ****ing crap?

Hint: no one is making money from selling diet pop over regular pop.

Take your ****ing tinfoil hat off already.

Apparently you're the stupid one if you believe everything on the market is safe for human consumption just because it hasn't been banned by the FDA.

Maybe you should put on a tinfoil hat once in a while. Perhaps you'll get a glimpse into reality, and not the warm fluffy make believe fantasy world you've been led to believe is real.

The FDA has recently aproved stevia for use in pop (and food) . Coke will be the first to use it.

Yeah I'll take the word of a random pipe-fitter (or whatever the **** you do in life) over a large conglomerate of scientists and doctors who I'm sure have taken more than a glance at aspartame given how many mouth-breathers like you have screamed murder over it.

kloan

Lol, pipe fitter... does that pay well? Who's asking you to take my word or that of some random person? There's a lot more backing these so-called conspiracy theories if you actually bothered to read them instead of poking your eyes out with the latest science journal.

I'm starting to think you're affiliated somehow with the kind of people who would approve these substances for human consumption. Big pharma perhaps? We all know how safe some prescription meds are, right?

I'll gladly put up with a bit of random mouth breathing as opposed to relying on nasal decongestants.. which you probably think are the bees knees.

Back later.. have to make a new tin foil hat.

I'm a lot more afraid of fructose and sugar than I am of aspartame. While I'm not saying aspartame is good, it's not bad enough to cause me issues in the doses I use it.

Stevia is good for a week or two but the flavour becomes annoying quite quickly.

I guess your tin foil hat keeps falling off your tiny head as you ride the ****ing shortbus eh?

Who exactly is making money off of diet pop? I would bet that aspartame is more expensive than the damn sugar they use in regular pop per serving. The world revolves around money and if no one is profiting, who the **** would care about 'covering it up'?

What a retarded question! Are you sure you're not the one riding the short bus there Corky?

Do you think Aspartame magically makes itself? See, maybe in fairy tale lolly pop land as you gleefully prance around like a giddy little school girl, just maybe stuff makes itself... however in the real world, manufacturers create products.

As such, Aspartame is made by quite a few different chemical producing companies, in which is a billion dollar industry. There is a ton of financial backing in Aspartame. Just as there's billions of dollars in the pharmaceutical industry.

Then lets look at how many food companies have diet and/or calorie reduced product lines. Think of how many food items that have Aspartame in them in order to appeal to the calorie-conscious person who's trying (feebly) to lose weight. All the R&D and money that went into re-formulating their recipes so they could market their new diet foods. Imagine all the extra money those companies make because of the poor saps that buy into this hype, believing the foods are somehow better for them because they have artificial sweetener in them (completely disregarding the fact that it's all processed CRAP and still unhealthy food in the first place). Do you think these companies really want to pull all of their food off the shelves all of a sudden because there's fear the alternative sweetener they've been using for decades has now been suspect of being carcinogenic? Not likely.

Just take a look at how many products actually have Aspartame in it, and tell me that people aren't making money off this stuff. Go ahead, I dare ya.

"First Experimental Demonstration of the Multipotential Carcinogenic Effects of Aspartame Administered in the Feed to Sprague-Dawley Rats"

I'm still more likely to avoid High Fructose Corn syrup than I am Aspartame.. however I don't feel either one is safe for regular consumption.

But by all means, carry on. We're all entitled to our opinions/beliefs.

You are an idiot. Of course it'll make money. It's in relation to ****ing HFCS that was in question. Got any reading comprehension whatsoever?

Excellent study, excellent. Which is why it's in a no-name ****ing journal no one has ever heard of... (that was sarcasm)

If it had any merit, it'd be a multiple front-page issue in Science, Nature and Cell. Go back to school and don't procreate.

kloan

Which post exactly did you even mention HFCS? Oh that's right, not once in this thread. Way to try to redeem yourself, by once again turning the table and avoiding the obvious staring you in the face.

I'll try this once more since you definitely seem to be short a few neural pathways. People buy diet pop over regular pop because it's diet. It's an expanded market because of the 'diet'. The pop companies make money because people buy their diet pop that might normally not buy regular pop. Does this make sense to you now? They use Aspartame as an ingredient to expand their market and create more sales, which makes them more money. Comprendo?

Shame you lack the ability to have a conversation without resorting to personal attacks in every post. You're really not worth the bother, asshole. Oops, that was a personal attack.

Here's another one: try sucking your own dick, and if at all possible break your back while you're at it so we'll have one less asshat walking the earth among us regular folk that know how to talk to people with respect. You obviously don't.

In any case, I'm sick of seeing you call everyone that has a different opinion than you stupid, so on the ignore list you go.

Good day to you.

Who cares about aspartame anyway? If you avoided everything that was bad for you, you would never step outside the house.

Honestly I could care less what people do. I only react to people who attack others for their own beliefs or opinions. Drink away, you're probably more likely to die from getting hit by a bus than you are to get cancer from drinking diet pop.

Avoiding things that are bad for you, and staying in your house for fear of getting killed by a drunk driver are kinda two different things though. One you have control over, the other you don't. It's up to you want you want to put in your body, but keeping a closed mind about anything that goes against the grain is just ignorant. But as they say, ignorance is bliss.

In any case, I'm not even the one that initially posted the reference to the possible toxicity of aspartame. I just like to climb into the sandbox on occasion and play with the kids.. in this specific instance, nisser.
