half used amps into sterile vials

Just wondering if you have left over gear in amps can you place it in a sterile vial for storage.. And for how long??

Not doing this.. just a general knowledge question..

generally amps are 1ml so unlikely
you would have left over. If you did,
you would be better to draw it up
into the barrel of the syringe and
save it for next injection (change needle).

Transfering from one container to another
you always risk contamination. Risk is
low if you follow basic sterile techniques.

how and why would anyone have a half ampule left over, use that ****er up!!

Pull the entire amount from the amp, inject what you're not using into the new sterile vial, change sharps and inject your desired amount into your desired area. If it were me, I'd be pulling from all my amps and filling vials, baking them, then using what you want from the vial, being you don't want to use a full amp. If done in a sterile manner it will last as long as any other full vial that you purchase.

And curious what is the procedure in baking the sterile vial? Sorry but taking out of sterile amp and placing into sterile vial, wouldn't you keep the continuity of the gear being sterile?? Why the extra baking? Is it when dealing with UG gear and would you do this also for HG gear.

I would bake it to be entirely safe. Contamination can happen at any point during transfer and I for one wouldn't take the chance. Waderow and others are the sterilization gurus and they say vent the vial with an 18 g pin and bake it at 300 F for 30 mins. :)

The heat levels are set to kill bacteria but leave your gear intact.
