Ok, I got this idea swimming in my head to create bodybuilding calendars for 2009 of our bodybuilders. Woman of course and maybe men if there is interest.

This would include members here and on MN but I am organizing it here though as cbb will be the front end to some of my plans for the future :)

Please give me feedback and those interested to have their pics in the calendar, please contact me.

I would require a high quality picture of you (I would need to pull a 300dpi out of it) so we're talking about professional photography quality here, not your 5 megapixel at home thingy. If you have some of those pics, you need to get the permisson of the photographer to have them printed. In other words, you need to get the rights to your pic and I would need it in writing to protect myself from getting sued.

I MAY, I repeat MAY organize something for the nationals by getting a professional photographer to do some shots that day or the day after. No promises though.

I'd probably do a presale to see how much interest there is and if there is enough to cover costs and make a little profit for putting it together. That way I can continue to do it year after year and start getting the canadian scene moving as in my opinion, it's at a friggin crawl.

What do u all think?

they are a hard sell. To do it on your own i bet u wont make a penny. in fact u would loose money. but to have a sponsor on each month to cover costs, then u will definately be that farther ahead and may even turn a profit.

Yes for sure. There will be advertising in it on each month :) I figure 14 pictures of bodybuilder's. Front page, 12 months, and back page. Then advertisers will be 12 for each month and inside back cover full page.

But first I have to be sure of everything then I will check costs and see if this is feasible to do. The photographer will cost a bunch of money and that's what I'll need advertisers for.

after doing this idea for the bcabba 1 year. (and not getting any backing from them i might add, but this is another story) Its very expensive! I couldnt afford to do a flip style calendar as the costs were too high that i would of had tosell the calendar for $30+ to make money on it. So i ended up doing a 12 month calendar on a big poster size paper. with the 12 months at the bottom and the ladies all around it. looked pretty good and cost me very little to do.

but iam on board as a sponsor if its reasonable for me to do so. Lord knows i cant be a viewed athlete, much better talent on this site and in this province for that.

I have a few skills to lower costs :)

But I have an idea that will probably be reasonable for everyone. I will try to have a prepayment to help with the initial cost. I want it to be max $20 but I'm aiming for $10. I give whoever I put a picture of in there 10 free calendars and the sponsors 20 free calendars. I am just trying to decide how much to charge a sponsor. I'd have to see how much it would cost me to print a 1000 or 2000 of these.

There is a print shop near my place that does them for I think $15 each if that helps any.

Sounds expensive. Maybe that's why these things never work out :(

That is a really cool idea for sure. It would be very hard to get it going though as it's such a small community, but I'm sure it can be done. Any updates? This is also a great way for bodybuilders to get themselves out there and become known.

It's possible, I did a 12mo Calender sun shine style 10/20 dollars per copy is doable...
Just take you'r time and think the project through, I know you can make it work, you can put me down for 5 from the get go!
