I love it! Is there any reason not to squat in bare feet? I find I am far more powerful compared to my running shoes. What do you guys think?

(Yes I realize I wrote "bear" not bare)

I tried the bare foot method but as stated when my feet got wet from the sweat on the floor i didn't feel very stable. I wear the flatest running shoes i can find

you should grab a pair of converse cheap or wrestling shoes flatter the better

I squat without shoes on my heavy lifts, I find Im more balanced without them. And can go heavier without shoes

Vibram five fingers are pretty much the closest to bare feet that you can get. It is a vibram "liner" on the botton of the "sock". They are very popular with the crossfit and water sports crowd.

I use them myself. They are great conversation starters at the gym. People always give me weird looks. I find I squat and deadlift much better with these. I even run with them, it just takes awhile to get the proper gait to run "barefoot"

heard that when squatting in bear feet you get super natural powers, like claws and sh*t.

bare feet are better than squishy running shoes but worse than chucks/all-stars.
best are a nice pair of blue suede lifting shoes.

I don`t think it`s a good idea. You`re used to wearing footwear and squating barefoot is going to put you in an unstable environment. Plus most gyms won`t tolerate it.

The owner of my gym squats barefoot. that isnt an issue. I use chalk on them to solve the sweat issue as well.

Never had an issue with shoes or bare feet in squatting until recently. Once my squat gets over about 225 my Nike shoes i have to train in squish down and get my ankles lose support. I am going to squat in my work boots next week too see if the hard sole helps this problem plus im a huge branch warren wannabe. LOL...

Same colour I have. I personally love them. Its like training bare foot but with some protection for crap on the ground, and they have really good grip.

Nate now you need to try running on them. I now manage 1.5 miles every other day wearing my vibrams.

Squatting in construction boots? Would look cool, but not sure if the heel would be beneficial, try some chuck taylors, nice hard sole, but flat.

I tried squatting with my nike free last week when I forgot my vibrams and anything over 2 plates felt like the shoe was a marhmellow and I might loose stability.

I have a pair of converse, not cheap, but flat and I feel really comfortable doing squat and other things in my training!
