I just watched it at my buddies for a study break.....now i cant even ****ing study.

So who all else agrees with me that it was Deb that killed Rita??? All the stress was building up, she learned that Dexter is Brians Brother, and to top it off she knows her dad is a man slut. lol

It makes sense, like the only other person that had a grudge towards Dexter was Quinn, but Quinn knew nothing about Dexter and how he was found. Neither did the Trinity Killer, thus it was Deb or whatever the head guy's name is. And Ill put my money on Deb. Plus maybe Deb is looking to get even with Brian and is taking it out on Dexter, maybe Deb knew all along that Dexter knew about Brian and shes paying back the favor....
This could all be bullshit, but its the only thing that makes sense at this point. The only person who knows both about the trinity killer and Dexter is Deb.

I think it's brilliant they killed her. Julie Benz wanted out of the show anyway. Better to kill her than have her role re-cast. It sets up for an amazing season 5. This last season is in the running to be the best season of dexter yet, right along side season 2 IMO. Going to be hard to top. John Lithgow is definitely one scary mofo. Best villian yet

Ive seen the episode alright.
I just believe that the trinity killer got the last word.
As for Morgan,i know she was knee deep into the case with no social life but i dont think she is that obsess with her brother to the point of killing his wife so he can be all to her.

I thought the pool of blood was brilliant. I didn't think it was suppose to be intentional, but more irony. Trinity was killed and now Dexters son experienced a similar tragedy that led Dexter and Trinity to do what they do (kinda like death and rebirth)…its so open to interpretation which is what’s great about it…unlike the ending of Sopranos (SOB)

i just watched it, next season should be interesting. but dexter should have blown a hole through his face in the parking lot at the police station and planted a gun on him, DNA match BAM got him!

The theory doesn't make sense because of the dynamic of the entire show. Have you watched since season 1? Deb would never kill rita because it doesn't make sense for her character to do so. She's a cop - not a murderer. She is also loves Dexter and wouldn't do anything to hurt him or his family. The writers are smart and stay true to the characters without deviating from their on-screen personalities throughout the series. It makes for better television.
Why trinity chose not to kill harrison hasn't been directly addressed, however, I'll bet the writers wrote it this way to emphasize on the 'born in born' metaphor. Trinity has put Harrison in the exact predicament Dexter himself was in as a baby. This was more than likely purely coincidental on Trinity's part, or he may have intuitively known that leaving the boy this way would be more damaging.
This also sets up a great season 5 - not one with dexter trying to ditch his dark passenger and lead a better life, but with a ****ed up, vengeful dexter who knows that because of him his wife had been murdered and his son may have now been scarred for life just as he had been; all while the noose tightens around his neck as Deb, Quinn, and the Miami PD start to piece things together.

Finding out Dexter was Brians brother could have been that snapping point. Deb wanted to be a "good" cop just like her Dad, we all know how Debs father wasnt so "good" so maybe she questions her job/life thus far.

I agree with the born in born metaphor, I was just raising it because if Trinity wanted to do true damage, why not attack Harrison instead of Rita, that would hurt Dexter more, since Harrison is his only blood family left (although he doesnt know that so it makes it hard to believe)

At least not Rita's kids. Astor and Cody will most likely go live/stay with their grandparents, and I suspect Harrison may as well. They want to focus solely on his character and his battle with his demons now. Most people have had enough of the family guy version of Dexter. I think the character is so intriguing and complex that they have more than enough to work with writing the season based solely around him alone.

Dexter took a crapload of money from Trinity. Trinity even tried to go get Dexter at his old apartment. Now that he finally knows Dexter's real name ofcourse he will find Dexter's home sooner of later and take revenge.

In this sense the season finale felt a little rushed. They did not show how trinity found the house, how dexter hid in the mustang, etc. They usually fill in the gaps next season though with flash backs.

im surprised to hear confirmation that rita was killed by trinity... it really seemed like a weird dream they way they filmed it and just ended it all of a sudden.
Dont get confused, the trinity killer doesnt need to know about dexters past to have done what he did.
my theory is astor and cody will kind of leave the picture and this will allow for a season of rampant killing. the show wouldnt be a show if he wasnt killing people.
and perhaps now that the baby has suffered the same trauma as dexter and his brother dexter will teach him the code and turn him into a baby killing machine!

In the novel Dexter teaches Cody the code. The writers have confirmed that they will not be going this route with the series though.
