not that I am on his side....since ive experienced the full wrath of a Texas prosecutor for a dui charge...but it seems as if a dui is nothing in this country and usually gets treated with a slap on the wrist anyways.....

"The average citizen in Alberta who does get stopped with these readings does get (to qualify for) a curative discharge,"

Willie Dewitt (defence lawyer) brought back memories of 84 summer olympics, great boxer until he turned pro. I've seen him in court as I've been in and out in the old days and I too got a curative for much worse than this flatfoot limey

Dont lop me in with the haters, I dont hate anything. I never got that option with my dui, nor did anyone else that was in the courtroom for dui charges. Alberta is supposed to have no tolerance for drinking and driving. But if you are a cop or you have lots of money you can get off. Can you say corruption?

Yes ,and I got off, why? because the Constable gave me a roadside sobriety test, this was against my charter of rights. I paid a retainer fee and my lawyer sent his case to the crown it took 2.5 months for the crown to decide not to pursue charges against me. Fortunately I learned my lesson, and my life took another path that didnt include getting blotto and going driving. But I know from experience there has been many others that repeatedly get off, because of money, this is a huge failure of canada's judicial system, too lenient and it sets a bad example when law enforcement gets off. The way they handle drinking and driving is a joke in this country, they act tough and talk tough about it, but the system in place to enforce it is easily manipulated by lawyers, too many loop holes. I should mention that I blew
0.120 and I could handle my liqour well at that time. Officers notes had me at a "pleasant and cooperative attitude" haha. He was probably about 50 years old this guy and He was really nice to me, and I got the feeling if it was him that initially pulled me over and not the dick munching by-law officer he probably would have let me drive home with a warning.

I take a real disliking to cops now a days. More so with the younger "Breed". Whenever they are in a courthouse or anywhere waiting for their case...they exhibit a self esteem of such proportions that it appears to challenge description.
Can't wait for the day till some of them fall in my lap and I start owning them on cross examination.

Ya cause representing some piece of shit who brutally rapes a child is such a great profession. Especially when one knows all the evidence points to the cesspool of life being guilty but they continue to try to get their client off on a "technicality". Must be quite the sight looking at yourself in the mirror in the morning. Cockroach...

Wow....****ing hilarious.

If this guy got off so well he wouldn't have been arrested in the first place. Obviously he made a poor decision and got caught....and obviously he shouldn't have been driving but I bet lots of guys here including myself have driven when they shouldn't have....
He got charged and dragged through the system like evvvverybody else.

I bet if any of you 'haters' saw the conviction percentages for an impaired charge it would make you sick.
Repeat offenders getting off time and time again because of some bullshit....

It would make you sick to see what 'real' criminals get for 'real' crime......rape, assaults, break and enters, trafficking......NOTHING...they get NOTHING in Canada....

Hey, did you hear Tiger cheated on his wife ???? :D

I'm not trying to hijack the thread but I just read something that goes along with the general theme. It's such a horrible thing, hard to put into words.

a high percentage of cops are dicks, a high percentage of cops who break the law get away with a slap on the wrist if anything. it is no wonder so many people do not care for them.

cops who break the law should be scorched to the maximum, they know better.

i agree with Mass, lawyers can be a much worse burden on society. i dont know how some of them live with themselves.

CORRECTION: "a high percentage of cops are dicks" to punks and criminals and are quite professional to those that deserve it.

one would think what you're saying would be true.....but it's not.

i'm by no means a cop hater but there are indeed a high % dicks that power trip on whomever they perceive as a threat on any level to their 'omnipotence'.
