Ok so I feel like a idiot for asking, but how do you do a deadlift??? I have seen lots of different ways to do them on other sites. But still have no clue what to do. If someone could explain it in laymens terms to me please as I hear this is a great workout for the legs.

Thanks in advance:confused:

if it help, think of your arms as a extension of the bar, there not suppose to bend, shrug or anything else.

dryvrgrls deadlift recipe
1.. start light until you get the right form... lifting too heavy with improper form will hurt your back
2... grip bar from a floor position, bend your knees it isn't a hamstring stretch!
3... lift bar by straightening your knees keeping bar very close to your shins! (without actually rubbing the bar along your shins which is very painful, especially with a brand spaning new bar which still has the whole emery board/ file effect)
4... when you get the bar to your knees, straighten out your back to a nice standing position.
5... lower the same way but in reverse
repeat

best I could do.

(Ms Manitoba tells me that alot of people like doing them stiff legged, but I like lifting with my legs and my hamstring is too messed up to even think about that)

Just don't drop it like Wendler did. It's kinda rude.

Question... for a beginner, how much weight do you think is enough and won't hurt your back, also how many repetitions?
thank you.

try it with just the bar for 10... see where to go from there...

I never do more than plates... not strong enough yet... usually 25 pounds per side with a higher rep

Dont focus on moving the weight; focus on pushing yourself into the ground as hard as possible and always push thru with your heels.

I find this explanation works best for beginners because when your starting out the weight means nothing anyway.

oh no I am good with that. I respect others in the gym and watch my weights so they dont slam together or I dont drop them.
