April 02-04 in Toronto
If someone is interested in taking it please contact me as I am trying to get a group together and have group discount.
I have contacted them already and as soon as I have an absolute number of people they can give a discounted rate.
I'll be signing at the end of next week therefore I need as many people committing as soon as possible.
That thing sells fast, I tried to register 2X already and both times they where sold out already and I couldn't get in even though I had my name 2nd in the waiting list.
Thanks

I am going on the record saying I hate Charles "I gained 15 pounds of lean body mass because food in the carribean is apparently magical" poloquin with a greater passion then I hate hitler.
Yes, Charles "I trained a speed skater who had quads that made tom platz's look like woody allens" Poloquin
No word of a lie, I really cant stand Charles "Every world record bench is proceeded by a heavy set of rows" Poloquin
No idea why. Maybe my reasonings have no basis in reality.....like everything he has ever said.

I`d take the $750 and use it to pick the brain of some top adviser. Can`t say I`m a big poliquin fan. Especially after I bought a book of his that cost around $80 and was nothing but a compilation of his mm2k articles.

I am far from a Poliquin fan.
The man is full of himself, insecure, rude and a terrible presenter.
But in terms of athletic training he is the cream of the crop, his results speak for themselves.
The material was developed by him but the presenter is another person.
If you guys have any suggestions of courses/seminars with top coaches please let me know.

You make some good points but he is totally right about rowing. Strong lats are essential for the bench, but especially when the shirt is tight and you gotta pull the bar to the chest.
I know a guy who did bob sleigh back in the day when Chuck was the coach. He never followed his programs because he didn't like the guy, and to be honest not many do. However what I do notice is that every strength coach thinks they are the best at everything they do, just like every chef thinks they are the best.
I would spend the money on Poliquin 1 rather than a Can Fit Pro any day.
Luckily it is only $500US for me, but if there is a short squeeze in the market it could get a bit pricey. Sorry for the finance jibberish.

That wasen't the context of his statement. He was trying to say that he has witnessed all sorts of bench records that were preceded (as in DIRECTLY before hand) by heavy rows as some sort of magic activation technique.
I actually don't know anyone who doesen't hate Poloquin anymore. Except the nut huggers at t-nation who just read and buy anything you feed em.

I just did Can-fit-pro and its a mix or garbage and shit. But its a certs anyway and just a start for my career. Paul CHEK got some pretty cool stuff too.

Experience trumps certifications in the real world. I know people with a canfit pro or a CSCS and they have no idea how to train an athlete. Usually excessive stability ball use is a sign somebody has no clue and should quit life.

HAHAHA. The problem is people teach them to use stability balls for everything so they don't know any better. What Canada should do is start encouraging Eastern Bloc Strength Coaches to immigrate here. Most trainers don't have the proper education and experience to help people achieve much beyond increased flexibility, fat loss and beginner level strength.

That would not matter. There's a reason why those of us with vast experience in training are not personal trainers. We lack the sales and people person mentality.
Few want to train as we would have them train. Why? Because it's ball busting work. Most don't want to work *that* hard so we'd esentially fail because we'd lose it on them lol

I agree. The people who want to work hard can generally motivate themselves. Usually they only want/need help and guidance not constant supervision.
How do you keep from getting upset with disruptive people at the gym? I have a problem with this. Head phones arn't an option for me.
I'm not overly familiar with Poliquin but from what I have read, he is not my cup of tea.

Headphones work but the odd time I will see someone doing stupid things. Like say for instance, 405 squats with a ROM of 2" or some douche doing flat bench that looks like like a decline.
I generally make fun of them to their face. I have no problems pointing out how dumb they are.

No, I mean like grunting LOUD every rep. Throwing dumbells around, disrupting the entire gym. I think I'm going to have to start training at a different time because this gym I'm at now has all these little assholes. One of them wears gardening/work gloves. No joke, big heavy cotton full finger gloves.

Oh, if I encouter that I just tell them to keep it down. I lift 200% more than them and I don't grunt and carry on like a caged animal in heat so neither should they.

I would have went with "You sound like you're giving birth" but I like the caged animal one. My problem is I take things personally. I get so upset I actually have trouble speaking. Then I end up escalating the situation. How do you not let things bother you? I have trouble with that.

LOL
I am the same on here as I am in person. I just don't give a shit. I get flack on here all the time (you've been a giver at times lol) but it's not personal to me. For someone to anger me they'd have to be in my close inner circle or do something which either caused my physical harm or COULD have caused me physical harm. Otherwise I just don't care.
