Recently after 7 months of a strict workout routine I now find myself lacking the motivation and will to workout.
What can I do to get that feeling I had before that made me love lifting weights?
What have you all done if this has happened to you before?
Thank you all in advance.

start going on a non-strict program, just go when u feel like it. Your body is probably telling u to quit because u have been training for 7 months. Take it easy for a week and see if u get that spark again.

That is the issue I took a week off after a grappling tournament I competed in because my body was telling me I needed off time.
Now my body has recovered but I still lack motivation.
Lifting weights is one of my favourite passtimes but I just feel lazy for some odd reason.

2 Possibilities...

1) Time for a change
2) Suck it up and grind it out

I tend to vote for 2 unless I've accumulated injuries. Get on a program. Pick a 16 week goal and refocus.

Time off dude. If you`re doing martial arts and bodybuilding, that`s an easy way to overtrain. I keep wanting to get into them, but know it`s not realistic to do both well. I`d sip on some bcaa`s during the dojo time for sure a good 20grams in 2 scoops of gatorade, with the same drink after followed by a protein drink.

Watch the movie" Pumping Iron".Take a week off.Go back with a completly new routine ,not with just different eercises but also different rep patterns etc...
I change my routine every 4 to 6 weeks to keep me focused and not becoming stale.Sometimes having a training partner helps keep ypu motivated if you can find a good one who is willing to train on your schedule.always a challenge

Maybe try a new supplement something you've never used before. That works for me.. placebo for the win

Hmm, yup I bought a tub of Dymatize Xtreme Pump and that got me over my unmotivated slump. Made a big difference...

Lulu is my Aunts name. Don`t think you`d want to be in the gym when she`s there. But then again she dosen`t train... But she could cook you a mean post workout meal if you can stand the smell of 37 cigarettes being smoked in a small cramped appartment on a daily baisis...

If you do not have a specific goal you are training for then create one...ie o bench 315lbs, to hit 220lbs body weight etc by a specific time. Make the goal attainable yet something youll be proud of. Onc eyou do this it gives you something to train for not just training itself. Also you can download all kinds of workout videos...some good ones are Blood and Guts Dorian Yates, and the Unbelievable and The cost of redemption with Ronnie Coleman....watch a few minutes before getting ready for the gym.

if you're the type to always lift with an ipod or something you could add a bunch of new music to it.... i was listening to the same songs for the longest time and before i switched up my library/playlist my workouts were brutal, just felt like everyday was the same... and working out was a choir. I found some new music that pumped me up and my workouts were crazy.

That is an interesting thought for a thread; "What is your workout play list".

you could also treat yourself to some new clothes for the gym. might get you fired up to go there and show them off.... then once you're in there feeling good and looking good it's not hard to grab some weight and go crazy

Ya bro, everytime i get some new metal songs on my mp3 i tear the gym apart!

What Prae said! You have to have goals or you loose interest real quick.. I have four programs that i do through out the year. I keep a journal on every rep and set that i do, when i switch programs i go to my journal a see where i left off and i try to set new PR's in that program.. It really gets me motivated to go to the gym..

yeah I din't really notice people when I'm training unless it's really obvious like the shadow boxers.

Haven't seen the one you mentioned but was a younger bald headed guy there last night who was shadow boxing in the free weight area. He almost ran into someone. I almost freebie'd a 45 at his head

this might've been said but I found the best thing to do is go out and buy the most expensive ipod there is, load it full of songs and leave it out in the open all the time, that way its a good motivator to get going to the gym and u have some good music for the gym...... also dont play out the good songs at home, listen to them at the gym.... that is all

time off fosho! (and or all of the above) I've set my mind in the past that I am taking 14 days off and usually by the 6-7th day I'm itching to hit the weights hard again..
