Just thought I would mention that I think this is the best decision for ontario bodybuilding...The 3 level tier system is just too much in my mind. Looking forward to competing next year. Not sure which shows yet, but will do at least 1.

Provincials are on my 30th birthday, could be fun...

So just to clarify - the Provincials are in June 20th, in London Ontario? This would be the next step for me as that correct? Since I just finished my level 2show, based on the old system, that is what I am shooting for right?

Thanks - I just want to make sure I set my self for success - I am at a happy weight now, and want to stay here, and just push HEAVY till I diet down again.

So for someone like myself who has never competed, where would I start if level 1 no longer exists?

Looks like if you were qualified for provincials from a level 2 this year you're good to go. However the poor guys who got top three this year in a level 1 show still have to start over and need to do a regional level show to advance to provincials.
However i do think this is a very good change for bodybuilding in Ontario. Top 5 in regional and top 5 in provincials moving on will increase the number of participants in the national level over time.
Hopefully we can get more guys to participate in bodybuilding, but as we know it's not a sport that pays $ so we do it for the love of it and the personal challenge it presents.

all regional shows would be a qualifier.

Since I've yet to do a level 1 show, I am aiming for 1 of the regional shows then provincials. Perhaps missisauga then provincials...According to the message, there could potentially be other qualifiers...My guess is this is the final list of shows for next year.

I was thinking the same thing. I almost did the ottawa level 1 show in November for the sole purpose of bringing me to level 2.

What are men's weight classes?

Delt King
09-12-2009, 02:22 PM
This is the way they organize the provincials and nationals....

Bantam Weight (under 143 lbs)

Light Weight (143 to 154 lbs)

Welter Weight (155 to 165 lbs)

Light Middle Weight (over 165 to 176 lbs)

Middle Weight (over176 to 187 lbs)

Light Heavy (Over 187 to 198 lbs)

Heavy Weight (over 198 to 220 lbs )

Super Heavy Weight ( over 220 lbs )

Regionals i would guess they might organize it like the old Level 1 shows...

Lightweight ( up to 154 )

Middleweight ( over 154 to 176 )

Light Heavy ( over 176 to 198 )

Heavyweight ( over 198 )

Sounds great, sucks that i did a level 1 show this year and placed top 3,so i will have to start over no problem. But i don't think i will competing next year,or anytime soon.

I think I am going to shoot for 2 shows again for 2010 - I am going to try and do the Provincials and the Ontario Natural Provincials - That should keep my busy! I am come in hopefully a pound or 2 heavier than I did in November :)

I was thinking of doing the natural show too...but it just might be too many shows and too spaced out. I wish the natural show was in june like it used to be the last time i did it! would be perfect timing to kill 3 birds with 1 stone.

the national natural show is the worst timing of them all though...you can't qualify for it unless you compete the year before since its so early.

I guess I unintentionally set myself up good then....Either way, I plan on doing at least 1 show in 2010 - I have come a long way....can't stop now. Now while the wheels are still turning

Too much competing leaves little rooom to build size and make improvements. What you compete against in Ottawa is *not* a good quality representation of the the competitors in the Toronto/London area.

yeah...i thought so too. I don't think it will be much longer though. My wife is in the same boat. although at least she has a 1 piece she bought for a decent price that hasn't been used - so as long as she makes provincials, it'll get some use!

What are your wife's stats if you don't mind me asking? Has she ever competed before?

she's competed in OPA before - in 2004, first time competing in anything. She placed 3rd. She did a couple fitness model type shows in '05. Then she competed again in 2007 just for fun a few weeks out from a few fitness model shows where she placed 1st out of 20, as well as 3rd in a "muscle model" category. At that time she was just on the border of too muscled for fitness model, but not quite enough for figure. Since then it seems smaller physiques have been favored (at some shows at least). So we'll see what happens!

To be honest she doesn't care much about her place at all. We just had a baby, and its more to just "do it" because its something she misses. Right now though, she's about 138 pounds...Probably get to 125 on stage is the plan. 5'6

The natural nationals are great if ur in NS because its 1 week before the provincials and 1 week before the atlantics. Great timing for people who are dieting for provincials anyway.
Thoses sjutis are rediculojus. My gf paid over 1000$ for the set and wants to get an even more expensive next time. Some glad they are getting rid of the 1 piece all it does is cover up more sexyness. I would hate it if I had to wear 2 suits like a shorts round or something, so much more to worry about with colour and tanning going from one suit to the other.

Would these shows have a Junior Division... Also what is junior? 21 and under or under 21... Ive been told its 21 and under so until you turn 22 you can compete as a junior

both would have junior.

Must be under 21 years of age as of the day of the show. So if you turn 21 the day after you're good to go.

Okay so the last two shows

Nov 6, and 27th, they are both prov qualifiers but the last show of the year so does this mean you qualify for prov. next year in 2011?

Sean Summers

Yes, they would qualify you for 2011.

keep in mind if you qualify as a junior, I am not sure if that allows you to compete as a senior the next year. So if it applies to you, you should probably compete in both junior and senior. Although, I could be wrong - but that is the way I think it works.

Sean Summers
22-02-2010, 08:01 AM
No, you are wrong. Qualifying as a Junior only keeps you current as a Junior. Same goes for Masters.

that's what I said. Thats why I said to compete in both junior and senior so that he would be qualified for senior if he was no longer junior
