Why dont we have a genuine competition on here, starting whenever, posting full body pics and then go 16 weeks, and have the final judging.....Maybe the sponsors can help out with donations etc...It woukld be interesting and fun, we talk a lot about bb on here, it will give a chance to showcase our canadian talent...
Have a classs for most improved, overall, most muscular etc....
Just a thought...
Seansummers is a judge, and i think a couple of others are as well.....:flagC

Had a member email me this idea. I think it's a good idea but we would need at least 10 people to make it a decent contest. If the sponsors want to get on and have prizes for it, it would be a good tool for marketing and motivation.

I would also maybe put in my own prize in the form of a gift certificate for one of the sponsors. Let's see who'd be interested.

Post up guys/gals that are interested in this.

hmmm. I'm very tempted to put my hand up. 16-20 weeks starting in Jan 1? I'm not sure whether I have the endurance to get all the way down to bodybuilding conditioned but it would be cool to get down into the single digit bf percentage and see what's under the fat.

Head pics not necessary but proof of date should be.

Of course dryvrgrl. A lady on board for the comp is more than welcome, even if it is in the fitness genre.

We'll have a group of judges and a point system as well as the members getting an chance to judge. The members all together will count as 1 judge vote.

We just need some prizes now to make this worth doing :)

I'll work on that part. If any of the sponsors read this and are interested, please contact me.

I am out of shape, so this could serve as some motivation for me. I think i will throw my hat in!

Also, in terms of pics...when we had a similar comp on a board i used to frequent, they simply gave everyone a password or codeword, if you will, prior to each posting deadline and that word needed to displayed somewhere in the pics...ie written on a piece of paper and taped to the wall behind the person....again each person would get new passwords only day(s) prior to the posting period....

This can be another option. Thanks.

I haven't finalized the rules or prize structure yet (if it's worth doing). If it happens, I'll start a thread announcing it.

i might toss my hat in the ring to do this too, but i have already been dieting for 2 months now and i am sick of it. lol of course i wouldnt accept any prizes.

I don't think it would be fair to have people competing in shows be eligible for prizes. It's a hugely unfair advantage to those not looking to get to that level but still participate and get into better condition.

Just a thought

yeah, I for one will never put myself through dehydration and the "hard" part of the pre-contest prep.
You can weight 30 pounds less then a guy, but be more ripped, and you will look more impressive

ironwill
09-12-2009, 11:02 AM
The hard part of the prep probably wont be utilized during this contest depending when the end date is...
A competitor wont blow his show to do a deplete, reload im sure, but one may be 4 weeks out when contest ends, and that would be fair...I agree if contest date is the same week as final pics for here, they should not be eligible......

It's just a different mentality in general though. People who diet for a show are going way harder than those doing it to get into better condition. Depleting doesn't have anything to do with it.

Not my business though as I prob won't enter. Too busy tearing it up on the ice and hills :)

I'm nor the one putting this together so it's up to the man to make the decisions :) I just gave my opinion believing it to be an unfair advantage.

I liken it to my gym that holds these types of contests and me entering while dieting for a show. It's a lock as to who will win given I am motivated by more than "just getting into better shape". I would not feel right accepting a prize because I have all the tools necessary to win - trainer, drugs, strategy, and having done it before.

Again just my opinion. Besides the prizes shouldn't be the main focus anyway . It's a side bonus as the real prize is accomplishing your goal :)

I understand what your saying. I guess if it's open to everyone then I will join. I do have a trainer, BUT I always train hard ...contest or no contest, I am natural so drugs are not a factor. There are folk on drugs that don't compete as well.

I don't think that it's fair to exclude forum members from an event that is fun and a great opportunity to help build a community rather than just a board.

I have never competed, I almost assuredly won't diet down to bodybuiilding standard but I am hoping to bring my BF down to the lowest that it has ever been for me. Other members will try to do their best as well.

If you are thinking about fairness equating to beating anyone but yourself then I believe that you are already setting yourself up for failure.

I hope everyone that wants to share in the fun joins and shares that experience.

This is why I'm thinking of the way to set up the prize structure depending on the people entering.

Instead of having a 1st place, 2nd place....kind of thing, it probably more fair to have a best body, biggest improvement, most muscular, etc kind of structure. So even regular members can have a chance as well as real competitors.

Super idea!!
plus you'll have a bunch of different weight classes, and stuff, so I think placing "first, second third" would be very difficult!

I really like "biggest improvement!" that really opens it up to alot of people who wouldn't normally enter this type of thing... guys and girls!

I think if you enter only to win a prize.. well.. that's a little lame, but at the same time, if you enter, you should be eligible to win! ...Maybe honourable mentions can get one of those Canadabodybuilding.com t shirts I've been hearing so much about ;)

Sweet sounds awesome, I like the idea of having most improved, best body, and such. As it gives us smaller guys a fighting chance :P

But Id join the competition for sure!

tiramisu
09-12-2009, 06:23 PM
In a picture contest you smaller guys have a better chance. It's primarily about conditioning and shape in a picture. Muscularity is extremely difficult to judge until you put people side by side :). Although us "fat" guys have a better chance with most improved.

MP or IW

what i did here in the gym was charge $25 a head to enter. It made people think twice about not giving it there all, as then they have something to loose in the end.
The $25 was put up as price money in the end.

just something to think about.
