Alright, so christmas is coming up and I'm interrested in buying a diamond necklace as a gift....

Wondering if you guys know of some good Jewellery stores

I know chicks love Tiffany, Cartier and Birks but I feel like when you buy from those stores you are paying more for the namebrand, and could get something nicer for the same amount somewhere else

any suggestions guys?

If you were close to me you'd be in luck. The one ( janena's) is closing and the sales are amazing. I just pickedip my wife a $150 watch for $50... The mark-up these places do are insaine.

So i consulted the Mrs and she agrees with this. She says she would rather get something better than getting the namebrand. When it comes down to it, assuming the quality of the diamond is the same, she would rather get the bigger less expensive rock.

Yah, unless youre buying the "classics" from these name brands... ie something with TIFFANY & CO stamped on the front, or the Cartier lock and key symbol thing... its prolly better to just go with whatever is shiny/big lol... if noone can tell where its from, then all that matters is that it looks amazing

Also... yellow gold, white gold or platinum?

There is a reason why birks etc. Is better

Go have a chat with them and ask them what the difference is

Diamonds have value based on flaws, colour, and clarity. Birks has a minimum which is usually the highest end at other stores

Agree ..Like a lot of other things name brand does make a difference ...brinks does not accept shit quality especially on there diamonds....again they do have the discount stuff...so as much as it hurts your are getting what you pay for..

That being said there are deals out there and even places like brinks have room to bargin ....dont take what they offer you without the haggle.

.God damn the ones you love are expensive.

^^ Brinks website looks good! Thanks

I was leaning towards a necklace but the earrings from there are impressive for the price

ALSO... are rings too "proposal" like?

Brinks has some nice rings... with PINK sapphires which are hard to find... and sapphire is her birth stone (september)

Take a look and tell me if its too much just for christmas

Best of luck bro..again DO NOT take what they offer you.....a friend of mine worked there and she used to sport her best low cut shits to pimp out the $$$ big price stuff...DO NOT take what the offer you right off the bat...they have a certain price margin to work with....its cuts into their commission but this time of year they will take what they can get...and it all pays in the end.

I don't think rings are proposal like. It's her birthstone ......very pretty ring! I think it would be perfect!

You should give her a jewel incrusted box for her to store your balls in.

I will ask them to line it in satin or fur for extra comfort

Tiffany & Co.

end of discussion.

I looked at this website... seem to have not that great stuff at amazingly high prices... her birthday is in september so im leaning towards something with her birth stone

I can get a pink saphirre diamond ring from this place in 18ct white gold...
http://www.brinksjewellers.com/Pink_Sapphire_and_Diamond_Dress_Ring_RK070288.htm

for the same price as just sterling silver sapphire earings...

Seems like a rip off to me... tiffany & co is best for their engagement rings I think or if you are getting something with the namebrand on it

ebay is the best place IF you buy from a trusted seller.
unless you are only looking to spend a bit, then birks or w/e is fine

The thing with Diamonds is simply that it is alll about the CUT
It will matter more with certain styles then others.. but a good cut round diamond for example will glitter and spark across the room and jump into your eye...
A shitty cut will only spark if the light is right and will can look like glass

Good brands will have good cuts.. no names might try to gain an advantage by offering less attractive cuts. The margins will remain high for both..

Cut determines price.. you want to make your women really happy ( eg, make her friends jealous.. ) go spend money on a well cut diamond.. or invest a couple of month of reasearch....

I know, your only talking about a necklace.. but you will know what I am talking about once you see the difference...

Not suggesting any brand. You can get good shit on the internet, wholesale etc.. the problem is that you won't know it unless you have decent knowledge
