if your boys shut down when a certain external amount of test is added "amount X". and then you go way above amount X for your cycle, does tapering off have any advantage or is it pointless since your boys won't produce until you get below amount X anyways?

I suggest you read prisoner`s test tapering sticky over at t-nation to really know how it`s properly done. A few guys here do like the method.

You should drop to 500mg weekly of long ester test for a few weeks then one week after your last test shot...start HCG. The reason behind this and tapering in general is to retain some exogenous test in your system while you sensitize the testes to LH with HCG. This pretty well eliminates the ultimate crash you would feel by stiopping cold turkey and waiting until all test is out of your system prior to starting HCG.

Is proviron suitable to be used an a AI during post cycle hcg therapy if stopped prior to clomid therapy? or will it retard recovery?

I like doing this too. I stay on for a little longer than a few weeks on just test though. It's nice to just come off slowly so your progress doesn't plummet quickly. Gotta pump the breaks instead of slamming them.

I`m rather sure I read a question similar to this in the tapering thread and the answer was no as proviron was touted as being suppressive. Not something you want to take when you`re body is recovering...

Correct...use femara or aromasin instead. With the advent of third generation aromatase inhibitors there is no need to use provirion at any time...on or off.
