home theatre update.......HELP

ok guys...need some assistance...

ran all my cables yesterday and hooked up the main floor...the pic is not fitting the screen.......

Viewsonic LCD TV (from costco a couple years ago)
HI-DEF PVR cable box (new yesterday)

Energy speakers...

here is what i did.....

coax into the cable box...
HDMI from cable box into reciever...
HDMI out from reciever into TV....

i get picture sometimes and message: CopyRight protection, HDMI/DTV blocked

so then i did ths...
coax into the cable box...
component from cable box into reciever...
HDMI out from reciever into TV....

the picture does not fit the screen and i cant seem to adjust it...the picture fit fine before i got the HI-DEF box....

the surround seems to be working fine...

is the HDMI the problem? should i run component direct to the tv instead ??

in my cable box settings i just set it to 'STRETCH' setting and it seems better, but i know this is probably just a quick fix...

Your TV may not be HDCP capable. its a hardware lock so only certified devices can talk to each other via HDMI. does it work via optical sound and component?

why dont u try putting the PVR HDMI into the tv and use the tv hdmi out to goto the reciever

what I did was said fack and paid someone to do mine :)

seems to be fine the way i have it...connected via component cables and HDMI out to TV from the receiver
i think what vakker said is correct....so i will live with it.

I have never seen that happen before. However, component cables output to 1080p so that is fine. I guess I got lucky that I connected 3 different components via HDMI to my receiver and ran 1 HDMI to the tv. How is your speaker configuration?

Cable into digital box, Componant to TV, your choice of audio to the receiver (optical is probably best) There is no noticable difference between componant and HDMI for picture, the only reason I tell people to use HDMI is if they're wall mounting and don't want all the cables running up the wall.

Then make sure your TV aspect ratio is set right and so is the digital box. Some channels will not fit full screen unless they are broadcast wide screen. Regular digital channels will have to be manually 'stretched' to fill the screen and there will be quality loss.

There are extra options in most digital boxes if you turn the box off and press menu right after it turns off. You can force 4:3 overrides etc.

Are there just black sections on either side of the picture?

Agree with what was said above

also i'm guesing your not gonna run a blu ray player becauase i doubt this reciever has Dolby True HD and DTS master hd audio codecs on board.
