OK so I am posting this in here because I think you can help me out more then the woman's part can. I live in Edmonton and am interested in learning Kickboxing. Does anyone on here live in Edmonton and have any idea if there is classes or what??? I know a couple of the gyms have classes but I am looking for a "real" class not one in a gym. or any MMA things in Edmonton??

I would do a google search for either competitive Muay thai gyms, ametuer boxing gym's, or MMA gyms. I am in ontario so competitve Muay thai is illegal dunno about your provence, and finding a coach who will seek out underground fights, or cross boarders for tourneys, in other words train you at a competitive level, can also be hard to find.

I belong to an MMA gym that breaks its classes up, and is competitve in each of the three disciplines we do in MMA. A lot of MMA gyms will train you specifically for MMA in these disciplines, and it makes you lose out on the competitive aspects of these sports.
Anywho I am rambling.

Do a search for the three types of gyms I listed up top if anything you should be able to find an ametuer boxing gym. They are a dime a douzen and will get you into the best shape of your life. Even if your goal is just fitness I would look in particular for gyms that are competitive because they will push you to your physical limits. Box fit classes are for senoirs and homosexuals that like to bounce around to extremelly bad 80's techno remixes.

Frank Lee's is the first to pop up when searched for. The website looks well done. Looks like you can also do Jiu Jitsu/Grappling and Kung Fu there as well.

it also got some decent reviews on sherdog(take that which ever way you like). he's said to have a good stable of fighters and it looks like he has been in the game for a long time.

mike miles might have something going on in edmonton too.

Atta girl! I just hate when women do cardio kickboxing and say I do kickboxing and I can take care of business. Please! I am from Calgary and don't know much about Edmonton but I can tell you one think Kickboxing or any other fighting/martial art is great for women and you will love it. Go kick ass girl!

Owie I sparred with one of our best Muay thai guys "technique wise" yesterday and my knee caps hurt like I owe money to the mob. Thats what I get for taking his kicks so I could hit him with punches lol. Atleast he said I have good transitioning between kicking and punches and have good potential for MT. I still say I would much rather box due to my piss poor cardio lol
