I've got a couple of fondue sets. The basic ceramic with a candle underneath is good with chocolate and fruits. Great to get your lady all giddy :) Was ok with cheese too.

The more advanced models are good for pieces of meat, fish, etc. You'll have to experiment with the sauces you can buy or make your own and test them out. Some are very good and some suck bad.

If you want to know the possibilities, check out a fondue restaurant. Then make it at home.

all kinds of interesting meat dishes, cheese, seafood, and desserts. Makes for a very interactive dinner date.

you can buy gas canisters that burn a methyl hydrate gel, and anything you can pretty much imagine, you can fondue.

for instance, you can deep fry a mushroom, sear some red meat, combine the two and dip in cheese....

great for bulking

My wife and I got invited for dinner at a friend’s house with a few people. One of the people at the party was a chef and he made fondue dinner for us. It seemed so simple, we just dipped the meat in the oil for about 30sec. and that was it. He put some spices on the meat and in the oil and that was one of the best dinners I have ever had. I usually never eat desert but pineapple cover with bernard callebaut chocolate was really good.

Peanut oil and lots of meat. What I like about a fondue is that it's a slow meal with time to talk.

we are doing this for new years eve.....we've done it in the past a few times. we did a dessert fondue with chocolate and fruit and then we did a meat fondue with pork and beef....its fun unless you get burned repeatedly....

I had a guy tell me that soup broth works awesome. His father inlaw owns a restraunt.

I've only had chocolate fondue with strawberries, raspberries, apple, bananna, blackberries, pineapple and sometimes candied cherries. It always been an awesome date activity. Sitting beside her sharing chocolate... I had a girl lick chocolate off my finger and that led to a whole lot of fun!!

A hotrock is really awesome for cooking meat and seafood on too.
