Just out of curiosity, do you guys actually do this?

My philosophy is to leave a machine/barbell setup at a level where most would start, I'll usually leave atleast 1 plate on the hammer strength machines, but I unload barbells... If someone left a bunch of weight on a machine, im usually careful NOT to remove it when Im done so Im not cleaning up other peoples crap for them...

Whats your philosophy on the matter?

I believe in removing all the weight, to me this is a pet peeve at the gym. Someone might want three plates a side for instance. Next someone else might want say 25lb plates only. To me its gym etiquette

I always take the plates off, even when someone has left them before i get to them (which seldom happens at our gyn), i always wipe the bench down as well.

Take em all off. Then people know for sure no one is using the equipment.

I always take off my plates , even if someone else left it on, after i''m done using that station i'll take them all off.

i see it as a sign of respect, your using that machine and once your done take the plates off.

i never enjoy seeing an older lady struggling to take off a 45 lbs. meanwhile the guy who left it there can move it so easily

I always put my weights back after I'm done.

Plus while I wait for my next set i go around and put back all the weights that were left on machines.....Bugs the shit out of me .

I take everything off. end of story. But I don't clean up anyone else's mess either.

We've got a douchebag titled Strength and Conditioning coordinator who's tiny and 145lbs who really watches out for anyone who puts more than 2 plates on a bar. He's kicked out 2 world record holder lifters from my gym... of course they left 6.5 plates on the bar, then when they got back they completely flipped on him one day when every bar in the gym had weights on it.

I don't really care either way. I just take my weights off.

I take em off, and put them on the right racks.... Nothing drives me more nuts then having to move plates around to get at a weight I want.

I take them off... Clean up after yourself and put the weights back where they belong. Easter egg hunts shouldn't be done with weights in the gym.

Ugh, I think I go a little bit more insane every time I have to move stuff around to put BACK plates. Conveniently while you are working out, some idiot has used the 45 slot to put 10's. GAAAH!!!

Fair enough, but what do you do, when you go to remove the weights from the last guy and all the posts on the rack are full of 5's and 10's and you have nowhere to put your plates. I can't imagine you guys truck around the gym distributing the weights back to their prospective "trees"... once in a while when some ass whipe leaves small weights all over the 45 post i'll dump them all over the floor and let the dude come back and pick them up.

I take the weights off and put them where they belong. 2 things that drive me nuts at the gym are not taking your weights off the bar when you are done and taking the weight off and then putting 5s,10s,25s,35s,45s all together. At my gym it's labeled where the weights go and people still put them in the wrong place. There is one fat guy in particular that is so ignorant, every time he is at the gym you can follow the trail of where he's been. He put 3 plates min. on everything then does 1/4 reps and just leaves. I would love to see him try a ½ rep and get stuck with it. lol

I hate people who just leave equipment everywhere:mad:

What really gets me is these ****ers that come up to me and ask me to clean my machine better, like **** you bub. I spray and wipe, but some people are so ****ing scared of a lil wet patch.

no question. the weights are stripped and go back in their proper place.

i always wonder what could possibly be going through someone's head to leave weights on the bar? does your mommy still do your laundry?

At the one city facility I sometimes go to they have the leg press with the center rack thing... like you can load plates on each side or on the center... and I'm too short to reach the center and some dingbat loaded 6 plates on there and left them there!

made me kinda mad

Learned I can push 6 plates!

This is pretty close to what I do.

If i move over to a hammer strength machine with a bunch of 45's on it, and the "tree" next to it has a bunch of 10/25's on the 45lb pin, I usually just dump them... I usually put away my own weights, but I dont waste my time rearranging the whole deal for random people.

Same here. What pisses me off big time is if say I`m doing dumbell kickbacks with the 120lbs then some guy puts another pair of dumbells where my 120lbs I`m using to do the kickbacks...

word.

I got a MMA superstar who "trains" at my community family gym. Biggest fag in the world...but anyways... he is all over the place, and the other day was doing curls (65) with the olympic bar, racked on one of the two bench press benches. The other was in use with some fag doing partials, so I took his 10's off and started my bench routine. He came over and started pouting, I looked at him, and then he went to the power rack to finish up. I hate my gym.

Yeah, our gym has them all labeled with f***ing lamacoid labels and just yesterday some kid puts a single 30 where my 80's came from! That really set me off, usually don't say much but this time I told him to put it where it belongs or he'll catch it when he walks away.

I always put weight away and some days depending how I feel I clean up the weight tree where I'm training. I think they have the cleaning lady do it, but she's like 5'2 and 105# and I never see her move 45's so I'll do it as a favor if I'm not in a hurry.

I out away what I put on...I use to strip it down but the heavy room at my gym resembles a train wreck and not only do you have to deal with weights, there's benches and and bars everywhere. Its like walking into a new gym everyday as guys move the shit all over the place. Lets not forget the people who use the plates to hold other equipment in place.

I always put away my weights when I am finished. Just the other day, I went to start my bench workout and sure enough there were weights left on the bar and nobody around! Seriously, how much time does it take to put away the weights when you are finished? GRRRRR
