I always get in 6 meals from 9am-12pm (+/- PWO shake) but what do you guys do if you go out and stay up later and then sleep in the following day? Do you still in take the same # of meals/calories or do you cut out 1 of the meals because you've slept through part of the day?

Usually I'll have an extra meal on the day that I stay out (egg white/protein shake with some PB) and then cut out 1 of the meals the next day but I'm wondering what the optimal idea is.

P.S. Keep the elitist "you shouldn't go out" comments to yourself. Thanks

if I go out and am up late I will go to bed but still get up when I am supposed to in order to eat my first meal then I'll go back to bed.

However, the times where I allow myself to go out and party then I am obviously not too focused on my training or diet at the time therefore don't really care whether I get all my meals or macro's in every single day including a night after being out.

In other words, unless its a normal part of your life I say don't sweat it.

I favor the sleep over the extra meal of 2 for that day. At one point though I`d get up and eat, go back to sleep, but that just stresses me out and don`t do it anymore.

I agree . I feel sleep is more important . I think a person could always increase their calories later in the day.

Also agree with what Nate said

i luv to sleep on the weekends... oftens times during the work week its tough to get in even 8 hours let alone 10 like many of us need

to accomodate this i just have more meals during the weekday than i do during the weekend... so mon-fri i have 8 meals per day since i always have to be up for 7am and i usually dont get to bed till midnight

during the weekends i usually sleep till noon and in bed by 2am, so these days i only have 5 meals, even though the cals are the same

Obviously there are going to be changes to your diet day by day based on different factors like workouts, work obligations etc but the idea is to get your cals in on a consistent basis...so 5 meals one day but more food and 8 meals all the other days with less food per meal certainly won't negatively affect you in the long run. Of course if you compete then it becomes much more important to get things right, as you're trying to time your results for a peak. In the offseason don't sweat it.
