Alright, walked into a GNC tonight (for shits and giggles). I was looking at the brands they carry. I was talking to my bud about not seeing MVP and the guy behind the counter overhears us.

Says they don't sell MVP because MVP was caught packaging their products at the same location they were packaging steroids (I figured by steroids he meant pro-hormones).

This is the first I hear of it. Anyone know the story?

I haven't heard that one. I'll check into it though. More likely MVP wasn't moving so GNC pulled it - you are going to see this more in the future for GNC I predict. However, the National Sales Director for Ultimate Nutrition was just busted.

Haven't heard that either but I do know that many retailers have issue with price protection of the MVP Line. Supplement retailers need to make a few bucks to stay in business and to be able to provide a consistent stock supply for their customers.

More likely GNC didn't get a wide enough margin. Mind you they did pull a couple of brands off the shelf during Balco.

Sorry guys. I got MHP mixed up with MVP. MVP probably didn't get in because they wouldn't sell direct. GNC has mandated that all 3rd party products ship directly from their warehouse - if not then the product doesn't get listed. There could also be other reasons...is there enough demand, is MVP willing to participate in GNC's BOGO event, is MVP willing to pay for an ad in GNC's flyer...etc? GNC Canada is taking its lead from GNC USA. I predict that in the future you will see less selection in GNC Canada - the same as it is in the US.
Novaldex XT was removed as it was pulled all across Canada. I think Physique mentioned that they re-forulated it - I'm not sure but I'll look into it. But the original formula is no longer made as far as I know so if you like it and you can get it then pick it up as you won't be able to get it again (the original formula anyways).
Finally, why the hell would you buy MVP from GNC???? Andre sells it at a KILLER price - MUCH lower than a f**king Gold Card price.

What got to me is how easily the teller threw that info out there as if it was standard knowledge.
Would I have been some 18 year old kid influenced by all the steroid witch hunts in the media, for sure I would have bought anything else than MVP. But being from CBB, I kinda know better. The problem is that saying something negative about a company and make them lose money or a sale can be considered slander if it is a lie. If true, nothing can be done. If it's a lie, that was a real low blow the teller pulled. And thus the whole reason for this thread.

I sure hope this is not what every GNC teller is telling their customers.

I've always found the people at GNC ill informed. And, I think their jobs may depend on pushing the company line.

True but to say what he said, was crossing a legal line "if he was informed to say that". Saying it himself just makes him look silly but if the higher ups informed him that they weren't carrying the MVP line because of that reason, then it becomes serious (unless it's true of course).

My stance on supplements is that they must have what is written on them and not be contaminated by steroids. For me, if they'd be contaminated by aas and I gained an extra 5lbs, I don't think I'd be too mad.

But for a natural competitor, for an athlete in a tested competitive sport , or the Olympics, it becomes super serious as they can test positive for a banned substance and get banned or worst.

I've searched a bit for an answer about MVP and steroid contamination and found nothing so my guess is the guy behind the counter went for a low blow to make a sale. I think it's an isolated incident and nothing serious but just wanted to clear this up in case it's not an isolated incident.

GNC blows, But, I also go in to there stores just to see what the "guy" at the store has to say about any given product or company they sell. I always end up luaghing at them and walking out.

They also DO and are TOLD to push sales towards the GNC line. That IS TRUE!

people at GNC will say anything. They dont want you to buy something they dont sell obviously. And they will push the **** out of whatever gives them the most commission, whether or not its a quality product. MVP makes good products, and the guy at GNC is full of shit.
