Hi,

I've had this site bookmarked for about a month now, and just reg'd a couple of days ago, been creeping the threads and I figured I'd make an introduction after I pm'd a couple of people looking for some advice.

I know absolutely Zero about body building in general, the stacks and counts and stuff are pretty much greek to me. In the last couple of years I've really let myself go, I'm up to 310lbs, or there abouts, maybe a bit less now, 5'9 and 34 years old. I was around 215 in 2003, but since then it's balloned. I've pretty much gotten to the point where it's do something about it or die kind of thing (there'sa girl involved, there's always a girl right?), and so now I'm totally commited to making a lifestyle change, it's been coming for a long time.

I've been interested in the Keto/Palumbo diets, and in general losing weight, my primary goal is to get down to 210 or so, I'll be posting pic's up once I'm brave enough to, probably a week or so, I figure, it's not enough to say I want to, I need to, I want to. It'll be a rough ride, I'm pretty much addicted to diet pepsi, and I've tried cutting out breads and pasta's, I eat mostly chicken with onions and white rice, and pizza, hot dogs, crap like that.

So, I'm here looking for some advice, and some encouragement, it's all about motivation, and I have some, I'm a weak man, I admit it, but, posting here, good first step I figure. I'm a recovering gamer geek/nerd, and I just moved to Ottawa from places west (Vancouver/Winnipeg) and I spent a couple of months down in London, now I'm here and planning on going to Algonquin for more schooling.

Anyways, that's me in a nutshell, so, Hi!

encouragement we can try and offer but motivation has to come from within. It's a long road you have but the end will justify the means. Be honest with yourself, accept that you will experience set backs and stay positive about the journey you are about to embark on.

The end result is what you are after but it's the journey which matters more. You will understand this statement in time.

Good luck and welcome.

FYI: I am in Ottawa and if you need some help I'm more than happy to lend a hand every now and again if needs be.

Thanks for the shoutout, I'll probably get something solid going in a few days, and post up a diet plan for you all to rip apart and hopefully get some advice on it. :)

Greetings,

Ppl are great here...It's a wonderful and rewarding business to get involved in, but
the commitment has to come from within. Training is a way of life.

Sure, sometimes you will feel on giving up as all your muscles are aching from training day in and day out (like how I'm feeling tonight) but the point is to never
ever give up. You just need to believe in yourself that you can do this. Many times I have to kick myself in the butt, and remind myself who the hell I am, and what I have accomplished so far, and what my goal is.

Do it for yourself 1st, worry about the girl after. Just like men, girls come and go but your family and friends will always support you no matter what.

Find youself someone that can mentor and guide you.

By the way I'm from Ottawa too!

Cheers!
LD

Hey man,

I feel the best way to take advantage of the site is to hit the NEW POSTS buttton, that's what I do every time I sign in.

I just scroll through and see what's gonig on.

2nd tip, is I'm a firm believer that if you've got the cash a trainer or nutritionish is going to be able to give you the best results, probably nutritionist first. I use one myself and it's great.

If you don't have the cash, then I'd just really take advantage of the site, start a log, post weekly pics, weight loss, routines... there are dudes on here that have a lifetime of experience looking the way we've always wanted to.

3rd little tip, is goal set. You've got your 210 goal, but the first one I'd make is getting to 300, then 280 and so on. I'm a big guy for goal setting, and setting them small at first and getting in the habit of achieving your goals, even if it's just getting to the gym 3x's a week to start. After a couple weeks of hitting weekly goals, I find I always start to be proud of myself, and things get easier.

That's just me though man, good luck!
