If ya go on the fight channel, they give the fighter purses as well as the total gate numbers.... The UFC makes enough on the gate alone to cover all their expenses, the PPV is all gravy.

assuming you believe their only expenses are the purses?

Think about there other revenue, $10 beers $5 hot dogs etc. selling shirts and merchandise. They make money hand over fist.....sponsors and advertizing bring in large quantities of cash too. Of course there are more expenses than just the purses though.

i've been to a few...

mgm grand in vegas i think is best place to watch it.. smaller arena... plus well, its vegas... i always get off ticketmaster.. but paid 750 for a seat at mgm.. was about 10 rows up, right dead center... kickass seats.... but i've also paid like 300 bucks at mgm, was up a bit, but still had a great time and good view..

out of vegas.. went to columbus and philly.. both times paid 400/seat... but the arean's are so big even those seats, its not the best view.. kept watching it on the big screen... but still a wild crowd and lots of fun..

expensive.. but so is going to a Leafs game and , they suck....

also with UFC.. live you got 6 hours of a show.. and its entertaining the whole time...

cool... i think best place to watch a sporting event out there..

nice too in vegas cause fights over by 10pm vegas time.. so can go out after to the bars and have fun..

i always stay at planet hollywood.. but if you hang out before the weigh ins and stuff you'll see tonnes of fighters walking around...

i joined the fight club a while ago.. and went to one of the fc parties ... was cool, lots of fighters there... good party on top of the rio...

Sponsors pay more than the gate

I'm sure theres promotion expenses, advertising ETC..... But the UFC is making a killing.
I know guys that have promoted small time boxing shows, theres a lot of little expenses that add up but in the end fighters purses are the big chunk of the budget. Their sole profit is whatever they can get at the gate over what the budget was.

A big time show though the big money is in the PPV..... A big boxing show where the fighters are getting 20-30 million each is all PPV bucks... The gates just peanuts...

UFC is selling as much or more PPV buys than big boxing fights, and paying peanuts compared to what boxers make. Brock Lesner was the highest paid at 400k per fight.... not bad, but Tyson/lewis was 30 million each.... Tyson made 400 million dollars in the ring... Someones making a lot of $$$

Theres a lot of people that say Fedors deal with the UFC fell through mainly because of the co-promotion aspect M1 demanded... which would have meant someone outside the UFC would have seen their books, and their profits....
