Well I am in the market for a new computer. I am looking in the under $2000 price range. I am thinking of an imac. Any mac users care to give their opinions on the subject.

Shit the new iMacs are ****ing amazing for the price. If you can swing it, with the educational discount the top end one is by far the best bang for the buck.
i5 quad core processor (i7 add $210), 4GB ram, 1TB hdd, 27" LCD, 512MB video.... really nice computer... $1999
if i didnt have my macbook pro, thats the machine i would go for, then id buy an HP mini and make it a hackintosh for a portable.
once you get used to the OS, macs are really quite a pleasure to use. if you're into gaming, boot camp is fine for running games.. other than that, they're capable of doing anything a PC can.. fwiw, mine hasn't crashed once since i've owned it.. in fact, i havent experienced a full blown crash (needing a forced restart) for a couple years now.. ive owned a lot of macs. ive owned pcs too, but i always prefer mac for the OS.

mac is pretty decent. PC and mac are good in their ways but if u want something for a change, go for Mac or even macbook pro. You won't regret it.

The girlfriend is a Mac user. She used to have a PC, but since the switch she said she'd never go back. As for myself, I need a PC for work. But the macs do look pretty sweet.

As soon as I can, I am going to get a mac mini. I have all the PC hardware to hook into it, and the mini will do everything I need it to do. And oh yeah, no goddamn crashing my shit every 5 min.

i have used both for years....
i would honestly say that you can do anything on PC that you can on MAC...
MAC is not necessarily easier or more user friendly....they both have their uses.

Macs are awesome. FYI, should you need to, you can run Windows on it by using Parallels or BootCamp. I'll tell you one thing. Once you try OS X, trust me, you will never want to go back to Windows.

I dont get when everyone keep saying that their pc crashes all the time..if you cant protect your pc..you cant protect your mac.

Running Snow Leopard and Windows 7 on my 24" IMAC. (Windows 7 via BootCamp).
Truth be told, I've been spending more time in Windows 7 then I have Snow Leopard.
Best of both worlds.

lol, never owned a mac i take it. macs dont need protection.. they dont get malware, spyware, viruses, etc. my PCs never got that stuff once i learned how to keep it protected, but it still crashed, froze, seized, etc.

My PC running Vista literally hasnt crashed once in the last 2 years... if you dont screw around adding tons of new software it isnt an issue.
Half the reason Macs have a good rep is because you cant put any software on them, so they are "user tested" less.... I find them to be similar in speed and performance. Only difference is, you cant get a brand new Mac for $300.

Can't put any software on them? Where on earth did you get that idea?
I've got tons of software installed on mine. Since switching over to a Unix core OS there's been even more software developed. Just about anything you can install on a PC you can get the same or equivalent for a Mac.
bleh.. Macs
User interface is queer to me.
