so theres these 3 guys bench pressing at my gym, they're taking turns video taping themselves.
these guys are in the gym everyday doing stupid shit, so now they're pushing 365 on the bench. you got the spotter using all his force just to pull up the bar and the guy benching does the smallest motion maybe moving like 5 inches. he still has at least a foot between him and the bar.
you would think after watching the video you would notice your not doing it right lol, but NOOO they're still doing it.

Haha, it gives you something to laugh about between sets.
At the end of the day you know who's pretending and who isn't.

you still get a lot of benefit from the negative too , so if they are lowering the weight on there own power then they are makin gains if not then they are just fools....lol

There's always a benefit. Even at 5 inches...the problem is that they would obviously benefit more from using 135 pounds and training hard enough to manage a single with that weight.
I see this same crap at my gym all the time. Once a guy had 345 on the bar, and I was thinking to myself, yeah, I suppose he might be able to press is...I mean, I've seen small guys do good weight. But of course, the weight comes off, the guy is spotting him during the negative even, goes down 3-4 inches, and then two of his other friends come rushing in once he couldn't even handle the negative and the whole thing comes down in full force to his chest.
I guess I should have seen it coming when he struggles with 2 plates for 2 on his "warm up".

There is always benefit to jerking off and thank god its more than 5" , always watch my form on the negative.
Every ****ing gym has clowns like that...its something to shake your head at. I am hoping it would full drop on them while filming and end up as a joke on youtube..now that would be sweet.

They tell everyone they know about it too. It seems like every guy has "a buddy" who puts up rediculous weights. That's why numbers don't mean shit unless you see the lift or know how the person lifts. I did a 365 squat when I was in highschool and it looked like garbage. I did the same weight last week below parallel. Same number, same lift, totally different thing.

this is the truth.

I was just going to post the same thing. I have to see it to believe it.
It's sad, but the number of people doing the movements correctly are in a minority at my gym.

It took me a long time to realize this crucial point. By no stretch have I worked out all my kinks, but there is a world of difference between what I do with 235 on my back, vs what 80% of the people at my gym do with it.

Yup it makes a world of difference. The great part is that muscle doesn't know how heavy the weight is so the guys doing 1/4 reps don't get very big.
I think most people would rather look like they can lift the weight they do vs. looking like a sack of shit lifting the heaviest weight they can barely support while making a lot of noise to impress their even more pathetic friend(s). Or maybe that just happens at the gyms I've trained at lol.

I would love to see these guys to a competition bench; pause at the chest, complete lockout, and ass on the bench.
