This really sucks, back in the day Karo put on some great fights and he has the best judo in MMA. Too bad he seems to have a lot of psychological issues now. Wonder what happened this time.

Actually this is a good thing...his last few fights were brutally boring...plus i think the guy is a serious whiner.

I seem to be one of the few fans he has left. I agree he comes across as a douchebag but I enjoy watching the guy fight. He has had some of the most exciting fights in the UFC (Sanchez, Diaz, for example) and I love to watch him throw people. I expected his fight against Hazelett to be FOTN so I am disappointed to see him pull out... as well as being out of the UFC for good.

I guess we will see him in Strikeforce if he can get his shit together.

i agree, he had some great fights, Diaz and Diago like you mentioned are some of the most technical MMA fights i've seen, with crazy transitions. Even his fight against Mat Serra was a good tilt. His last few fights he hasn't been the same. I know he has some anxiety issues, so alot of it is mental I'm sure, plus he has looked really out of shape in he last while.

He is absolutely one of the best Judoka in the sport but his last few fights there was no hunger or passion there IMO.

You could tell he just wasn't willing to put in the training required anymore.

Apparently Karo's camp has stated that he pulled out of the fight due to his addiction to painkillers. I guess he didn't want to get another $32,000 fine because of his opiate habit (probably more for a second consecutive offence).

Shame to see a good fighter lose his talent to drugs. Hopefully he can get his shit in order.

karo is a perfect example of a guy who could have dominated had he put a real effort in. he was an out of shape 170...at 155 he would have been retarded good. he could have served as a good gatekeeper, but i suppose koscheck is there right now.

How bad is it when even though you are likely top 20 in the world at your sport ( at 170 ) you can't afford to pay a 32k fine.
Talk about underpaid......

He was going to get paid $40K to fight and $40K if he won for his fight against Hazelett, plus all the sponsorship money. Not the greatest but still decent enough. I think the suspension would hurt him more since he would have been missing out on getting paid for 2-3 fights for the year (or more, depending on how long it would be).

Mayweather/Pachaio..... They're going to be looking at 30 million each.

If it was small time shows 40k would be alright, but at the UFC level?
