Anyone else here with tatt's? I'm not talking a 2inch squared Taz on your shoulder blade. I mean a real ****ing tattoo that cover large(ish) portions of your body? I have a half sleave on my left arm and a pretty large dragon on my right. I've always liked tattoo's. As far back as I can remember as a child I wanted one. To me they're living art, true self expression. I never get tired of seeing new tatt's.

But what pisses me off to no end is the shocked stares or just plain snear's that some people will give at the site of them. Mine have been pretty easy to cover since they are above the elbows. But in summer, when I'm in a tank top, with tattoo's showing in plain site people tend react pretty negatively (my shaved head probably doesn't help). True my half sleeve is a little "meanacing" looking (its not a Taz,lol). But for **** sake, I'm NOT a gang member or any other type of criminal. I've never been in trouble with the law. I just happen to like tattoos.

I haven't gotten any new work in over a decade because of this.
Maybe its that I've gotten a little older now, but I've finally said **** it. I really don't care about others opinions on them (and by extension me) anymore. I've booked an appointment to go get a FULL sleeve done. The dragon on my right arm is kinda shitty, so I'm getting it covered with a kick-ass asian style dragon sleeve...

Well, thats just my pointless rant of the day. Just thought I'd vent it......:D

It's funny when people see me at work outside of "business casual". Usually at the gym (workplace gym), I get shocked looks. I'm not overly covered, but I have a few large pieces, with both of my calves done and a range of work going down from both shoulders to just above my elbows.
The comment that gets me the most is the "You don't strike me as the type to have tattoos, let alone so many".

Unreal.

Funny I just got home from getting inked, working on a three quarter sleeve on my right arm, and have a few other tats too.

I know what you mean, I've gotten that type of response a lot. I find that reaction really odd. I'm not sure what "type" of person they mean, I always take it as meaning some kind of low life or something....people are strange.

So me and the tattooer were sitting in the back of his shop looking in a few books trying to find some ideas for coloring and I come across a pic of some guy with his dick tattooed. So I ask him if hes ever tattooed anyones unit before and he says "**** man I dont tattoo dicks". So I tell him thats too bad cause I thinkin about getting one on my dick that said "swan". He looks at me confused and says why the **** would you want that? I respond by saying "if I get a tat on my dick that says swan when I get a boner it will say saskatchewan.

As stupid as this sounds it really did happen, lol.

I'll definitely be taking pics. But I think it'll be a few months till completion. I'm planning on getting 4hrs work done a month till complete (he's $165 hr, I can't afford more a month, lol).

I've seen gentlemen with full sleeves and thought nice to have a safe hobby, good for you, not my thing for ME, but it's something cool
Now on other hand i' have seen the rotted out teeth, dirty bums also, so the average person don't notice your a hard working tax paying person. Sad how you get stereo typed

I got 2 sleeves, upper back, lower back, full chest and calve done. You gotta go with what you got. People are pretty stupid that they think you're a gangster or some shit and they give you a funny look, I find it works best if you just stop what you're doing and stare at them directly in the eyes until they break eye contact. Gotta let them know you seen their sneer. You gotta use their ignorance to your advantage. I used to get looks when I just had a couple on my forearms. Now that I have a lot more, not so many people givin me looks. Scares em more the more you have. I thinks its helping that I have been growing pretty good the last couple years. I must fit the stereotype better.

But in all honesty you should have seen this coming before you got inked. I think it is also why lots of people start with just a couple and then start to see what dip-shits your average sheeple are and wants to set themselves far away from that pack.

On a lighter note, its pretty funny when your in the line-up at the super market and there is a little kid standing in front of you staring while their freaked out parents are trying to get the kid to turn around.

Not everyone is going to give you a wierd look either. I have had some people I would have never quessed come over and say nice ink. You never know.

I've never understood it either. Most people I know with tattoos are pretty average blue collar guys. I blame TV.

TV is one of the worst things you can watch I believe... Too much and your brain goes too mush...

This guy at work has face/neck tats. I guess he won't be teaching kindergarden anytime soon lol. My funniest tatoo experience was probably at zellers. The cashier had two full sleeves, neck tats, and a bunch of piercings. The contrast between that and his zellers vest was just too much.

Its got nothing to do with your tats, its that your still wearing a wife beater. I would look at you funny to.

Not a fan of tatoo`s myslef. Having nothing against people with them, it`s just not my thing, that and piercings have gotten way too mainstream.
