not sure where to post this, mods please move if not appropriate.

i began testosterone therapy a couple of weeks ago but have had to quit due to extreme mood problems.

my natural testosterone was low normal and testim gel was prescribed.

basically i want to kill anyone in the am, i'm mr. nice guy in the afternoon, and want to off myself in the evening.

talked to the prescribing doc (actually his intern that i wasn't told i'd be seeing)
they said it takes a month to normalize and won't do any additional blood work till the prescribed gel is used up. then they want to take me off completely to see how i react.

is this normal?
i feel like i am a guinea pig here.

i asked for a referral to a specialist but they want to see what happens first, saying that i'm rushing.

sounds like your blood levels are spiking and then hitting the tank in the evening. isnt that what a fast acting topical gel is suppose to do?

Well your side effects are kinda normal for the first 3-4 weeks, but the way you've described them, there might be other issues at hand.
It may be from high estradiol, which is often a problem with the severe side effects you described.

My suggestion would be, if you can hang on for a few weeks, and see if you can normalize, then do it. But if you can't, you may need to do something sooner.

at least i have the assurance that i can just not take it and the day will be ok lol. i didn't have it yesterday and mood wasn't great but was stable.

like waderow mentioned i'll try to spread it out a bit, work will make that difficult but will see what happens.

hope it gets better after a bit, i'll run out of doors and hand skin soon lol.

The gel will take a while to normalize. Tell the doc you prefer injection. Tell him you wil even go to a clinic if necessary. The injections are much cheaper as well.

i'll definitely go injection if doc gets me into a specialist and therapy is continued. this crap is expensive and makes me smell like a cheap air freshener.

hopefully i'll just say bros wife is a rn or something and they will let me not do the clinic runs for the shot.

androgel was over 200 for a month when I was on it.....test cyp cost me 31 for 2 months.....not to mention how much better I felt on injections....well actually it doest cost me anything cause its covered by my insurance

Hearing this.. I really wonder why those stupid creams are still prescribed..
Must be a major pain in the ass to rub it in on a daily base to begin with

like someone above said, spread out the dose. if you take 2 packets, take 1 in AM, one mid-afternoon.
injections are by far the best tho.

thanks for the replies all, i am off the gel for now as i really couldn't stand that crap.
spreading out the dose helped with the mood swings but was very inconvenient as i work fairly long hours some days, and always have 2 little kids clinging on me when i'm not working.
i have a new dr and will be looking to pursue proper additional treatment in the summer; life is too busy for now to be playing with mood swings and dr visits lol.
till then i'm just trying to stay busy and motivated. working on the cleaning up the diet a little while increasing my overall calorie intake so i can hopefully still put on some size over the winter.

Get injections if you can.I'm curious why they chose the gel for you over injections.
