In his “classic physique” book, Reeves said his formula for “ideal proportions” was as follows:

Muscle to bone ratios:
Arm size= 252% of wrist size
Calf size= 192% of ankle size
Neck Size= 79% of head size
Chest Size= 148% of pelvis size
Waist size= 86% of pelvis size
Thigh size= 175% of knee size

John McCallum’s realistic measurement ideals for hard gainers
1. 6.5 times your wrist gives chest girth
2. 85% of the chest girth produces the hips
3. Take 70% of the chest girth for the waist
4. 53% of the chest gives the thigh girth
5. The neck size is 37% of the chest
6. 36% of the chest produces the upper arm girth
7. The calves come out a little less at 34%
8. The forearms get 29% of the chest measurement

Does anybody know if these measurements apply to women also? If not, does anybody know what would be considered ideal measurements for women?

Unless you want to look like a man, those proportions won't apply to women.

I think a Greek philosopher put together the ideal proportions for a woman. I think Elle Macpherson (sp) had them.

I don't know how anyone can determine ideal body measurements. It all depends on the size and structure of your body.

I know what my ideal size is for my body, when I feel the healthiest. I could never be a 26" inch waist or 120lbs no way in hell. I would look sooo unhealthy.

All depends on how your body is proportioned and what your body fat is at. The idea of having a barbie doll proportions isn't realistic for ALOT of women!

i just played with these measurements alot... im pretty sure they dont apply to women... a few of them are close... the wrist arm might be right, the chest, to abs is pretty close (although i have a very small waist, and absolutely no chest), the knee to thigh seemed to measure up... any pelvis measuremnt was way off... and im pretty sure i dont have an abnormally large pelvis... i'm quite pelvically small (i dont know if its a real word... my point... im not thick on the bottom half) thigh to knee was within range...

There's a site around somewhere with ideal body measurements for a greek statue. Thought it was pretty cool.
