I think this all originated with a crazy, irational fear of "Socialism", and because Hitler's party was called the National Socialist German Workers Party, even though his policys were definitly not Left Wing.

Would you consider the suspension of habeus corpus and the existence of military prisons fascist or just what normal democracies do?
What about massive stimulus efforts? Hmmm under what pretext was the Autobahn built?
What about Cap and Trade that will tax activity the state deems unlawful and encourage "self reliance" in energy. This was also pursued in the Third Reich with export restrictions on war materials, rubber, and currencies to prevent an outflow of foreign exchange.

Military prisons exist in every nation with a military, if your referring to Gitmo thats a Bush policy that Obama is ending.
