Well, I know it is bit late in the day but I still think that we should take a moment, if we have not already, to remember the ones who sacrificed so much so that we could have the lives and freedom we have today.

It seems that each passing year the memory of these people's sacrifice becomes more and more distant and we forget what we have been given as a result of the courage and loss of so many.

Please take a moment to remember what was fought for and given to us and maybe say a little prayer that this world will not see another world war.

Let us never forget those who fought to give us what we have today.

Agreed.

Gotta admit it pisses me off the Federal employees get today off. I think for them to receive the day off they should have to attend a memorial service as opposed to what they most likely do: go shopping, out to coffee, movies, clean their homes, etc, etc, etc.

The 133 Canadian lives we lost in Afghanistan are irreplaceable. I like to think that these sacrifices will have made more of a difference than we ever realize. A special mention 2 of my friends/subordinates who will be going over in '10. Good luck and be safe!

i find that its becoming a lot less important than it was before when i was growing up...for example the lcbo was open @ 12 before it was closed...and even garbage pick up occured im pretty sure when i was younger it wouldnt happen

Personally i think its so disrespectful how people take nov 11 for granted and don't give the people who died the respect the deserves . especially with all that is going on in the world today . I was the only one in my office who even wore a poppy . its shame full .

Gus your post is great and hit the nail on the head

I cannot imagine how anyone could take Nov 11th for granted. I will be honest i've ended up crying on rememberance day these past few years because now when I flip thru my familys book of newsclippings from the WW2 and I see the ages of all those boys who went over there It really hits home because im at that age in my life now and honestly I cant even imagine doing what they did...

For anyone to willingly risk their life to protect people they dont now and probably wont ever meet, that type of courage and bravery will always deserve respect.
