This has happened numerous times to me where someone approaches me and trys to offer me advice about something they obviously know nothing about, one time for example i was finishing up a set of shrugs and going for the money, my head was about ready to explode on the last few reps and I leaned over a bit, and this dude comes over to me and starts to say "oh man you cant lift like that you will **** your back up" how do you guys and gals deal with this? just say "thanks" or what?

"ya i know man.. just squeezing out the last couple reps"......... and if he says anything else that is critical smack him over the head with a barbell, but say "thanks for the advice".

I know this and have one dude, but truthfully aslong as there isnt abunch of idiots around me flappin there cell-tech holes, I prefer the clanging of weights and sounds of people putting forth effort, kinda inspiring to me I guess. really I would prefer no music at all unless its hard and heavy.

I hear ya bro. I like the sound of weight... but my gym is all rubbered up and the main sound is faggy music and faggy fags working out the wrong way.

Tell him you'll come find him when you need his advice.

"thanks for the advice but maybe you should worry about your own workouts. There's plenty there to keep you busy"
just pretend you are deaf and mutter some deaf sounds at him...
"im def and i cadnt hgear ygou"
then make a ****ed up face like you have serious terrets and hold it for a sec.

I had a guy tell me a few weeks ago that I "shouldn't arch my back like that while benching". Keep in mind I am a powerlifter and I bench with a pretty decent arch. I just sat there for a second, look him right in the eye and said "Really? Should I bench like you?"
He laughed a little and walked away. He didn't say anything more to me that day haha

Maybe after I have packed on another 25 lbs of muscle people will piss off.
I was thinking that maybe I looked like I needed it, but I know I certainly wouldnt approach people offering trivial advice if they just finished doing goodmornings with 225lbs, and Thats more than what most people squat with at my gym haha.

I tell them to go home and look up how to do the exercise on the internet...
I've had this a couple times and I usually say... "I thought the same thing, but I was reading on *********.com that this way is better, you should look it up"... 9/10 times they say thanks and walk away... or I just explain to them why they're wrong, I dont mind debating with strangers between sets.

Me too. Unfortunately there's sometimes more guys talking than lifting at my gym, so I usually go for the headphones in - music off approach. That way I can still hear the "music of the plates" without getting sucked into an unwanted conversation.

I think every ****ing gym has "that guy" who feels the need to spend more time walking around pointing shit out then working out.
