I know sometimes the extra curricular stuff can cause hair loss...just wondered if anyone has had the surgery, and if so what their results were?
it's a pain that started for me when I was 18

guys if you saw the size of my gigantic watermelon head...you'd want your hair back too hahaha. I've been shaving my head for 5 years. I suppose if I go no-neck it won't be so much of an issue!!!! I could stare at my traps for days after shrugs...they may be non existant compared to you guys, but that's by far my favorite part to work on.
it's never going to happen (surgery), was just curious of possible results.
Would Donald trump have a comb over if any of that false hope therapy worked?
Get a hat.

I would say shave your head. A hair transplant will never look as good as the real thing. As you lose more hair (and you will) you will need more work. It's not a one time thing and you are good for life as the companies would have you believe. Once you get it done you can't shave your head (you will see the scar) so you are stuck in that vicious cycle.

Meh, the shaved head look is overdone like tribal tats and tap out shirts. So if you wanna look like everyone else, then by all means do so...

Hair transplants have come a long way. There is doctors in the US and Dubai that do excellent jobs.
I've seen one doctors work in Dubai. He uses a needle like machine to pluck the hair out and transplant it back in. Its looks really good you could never tell.

heres forum about hairtransplant.some new folicular unit extraction method as replaced the standard big scar produced in the back of the head.they can now extract 1 carft at a time using somekind of puch.so someone could redoo his hairline and still can shave his head since no scar will be left. annyways have a look at this forum some really good result and some not soo good but will give you a idea of what can realisticly can be achieved. a ballpark for a procedure like that would be betwenn 5000 and 20000 depending on the ammount of haircraft needed standard strip removal is like 2 or 3 dollars each craft and with the punch method(no scar is like 6$) so as you see it can go up really fast. heres the link

I have a severe widow's peak. I shave my head but you can still make it out. Looks ridiculous. I wear a hat at all times possible. I own like 15 hats. Always buying new ones.

the surgery has come a long way. By no means is it cheap though. I would expect to pay upwards of $10000 for a good surgeon, and then like SS said, you may need to have a refresher in a few years.
For me.... not worth it. I bic my head in the shower, and no need to worry about combs, hat head, shampoo, or hair dressers. (I do miss hair dressers though...)

i know 2 guys that have done it..
1 guy got plugs...this would have been about 10 years ago...looked ok..i am sure they do better now..unfortunatley he has passed away so i cant say how it would look now.
2nd guy did the transplant..where they take a strip from the back and put it on top i think...looks very good..he still cuts his hair short..but atleast there is hair there where it wasnt before....and yes..expensive..but he has alot of cake.

Have you tried any treatments? I use nizoral shampoo, rogaine, and spironolactone cream. It definitely slows the process down (especially when cycling) but it doesn't stop it completely.
Its my big wish to have enough disposable income one day to be able to afford a good transplant.
If you use a good surgeon you literally cannot tell that its a transplant. The work is just that good.

This guy had it done at Hasson & Wong in Vancouver. They are one of the best in the world

My life is so much better since I quit worrying about hair.

are you doing what you can to stop it? that's the first thing - i'm currently using propecia, minoxidil and nizoral combo, which really doesn't grow hair so much as it does stop hair loss.
i have looked into transplants and from my research one of the best doctors in the world (most places I've read put him in the top 5) is in ottawa Dr. Rahal - http://www.rahalhairtransplant.com/
It depends on how much work you need. If you aren't bald but receding a bit, then you can get by with a FUE (not the strip) but there are questions if that type of surgery can really cover enough like a strip can. Also Dr. Rahal has a procedure regarding the scar which he overlaps the fold and is not that noticeable.
I'm going to wait a couple of more years until I can save enough money and hopefully this company called Follica Inc will get approved. The word on some of the sites from insiders say that they think they can get it approved within 3 years or so.... Check this out, from the Today show.

"Follica, Inc., a small, privately-held Boston pharmaceutical company, is taking a radically new approach to treating hair loss — one that could revolutionize the new push to develop a cure for baldness.
Unlike recent efforts to reverse hair loss by stimulating or transplanting existing hair follicles, Follica is attempting something far more radical: It is attempting to actually stimulate the development of new hair follicles! The company has an exclusive, worldwide license from the University of Pennsylvania to use and commercialize a breakthrough technology for what they call follicle neogenesis. Dr. George Cotsarelis discovered that the physical disruption of the skin, under the appropriate circumstances, can actually lead to the creation of new follicles — and hence, new hair. According to the company’s literature, the capacity of the adult skin to generate new follicles has been observed since the 1950s and 1960s, but due to lack of understanding of the fundamental biology of the follicle, could never be definitively proven."
