Try a power up and slow negative and stretch at the bottom, like 8-10 seconds down, and hold at bottom for another 8 seconds stretch, then power up, over and over until you cant barely move the weight...Try them in the fashion as GB has stated....works well......

It's funny but the genetics answer could be applied to every body part just as easily as calves and still be as true and untrue. If you've been training your calves for a couple of years already the shape isn't going to change but they can get bigger. If you haven't been training them for a couple of years you probably don't know what they are going to look like.
I alternate between bent leg calve raises one workout and straight legged calve raises the next. It would be nice if there was a standing calf machine at the gym but there isn't.
If you want your calves to be bigger then fundamentally they need to be stronger. Progressive resistance training. A novel approach where you regularily raise the amount of weight that you are using has been known to be highly correlated with both strength and muscular growth.

Ok, I found out early that my calves were a muslce that just don`t respond. I`ve done pretty much everything. The only thing that got my calves to grow was by gaining weight. When I hit 220 they grew a little. Since then, they`ve stopped.
If it really means alot to you, I`m gonna say just get implants. For people who have stubborn calves, you`re gonna have to train the ****ing piss out of them for years just for a measily quarter inch or half an inch. Seriously implants will get you some nice calves and they`re yours for life.

I found the best for me is EOD training.. variety of exercises, with pump days and heavy days.. just have to beat the shit out of em really

pause at bottom for 3 seconds to allow stored elastic energy in the achilles tendon to dissipate. THen explode up, hold for 1 sec and 2-3 seconds down.
ALso, train the gastroc with LOWER reps. It is actually a fast twitch muscle fiber and responds better to heavier weight. So that would be when your doing standing raises

A skipping rope won't do shit for a bodybuilder, unless you have 100+ pounds in a backpack.

my calves pissed me off to. Here is what I did to get them to grow a little
3 sets of 120, on whatever weight you can do that with. This works best with a seated calf machine. Each 120 is broken into a mini set of 30 or 40, with about 3-5 seconds rest between each of these mini sets. I did this three days a week. Then on different days, 2 or 3 times a week, I'd do 4 heavy sets pyramiding up with 8 reps each set. I was able to do this for 4-5 weeks straight (thats calves 5-6 times a week) before I needed a break. It did help. Be prepared to walk funny for a little while.
Ever since I've started doing HEAVY squats , my calves have grown 2" . I never target train them .

I`m guessing you started eating much more and your bodyweight went up so your calves got bigger form carrying a "bigger you" around. I`ve experienced this myself, but as soon as I start dieting my bodyweight goes down and so do my calve mesurements. As I keep saying...
Implants.
