After my training I have a 25g protein shake and 60g of simple carbs and an hour later I have about 60g of protein and 100g of carbs in food. Is this good enough or should I up or lower something?

youre correct to take carbs post work out, and then food later as you will be taking advantage of a natural insulin spike, shuttling nutrients into the muscle. Qty's depends on a few factors.....

If that`s the case, I`d up the protein post workout to 40 grams and up the carbs to 100 comming from dextrose or gatorade. The downside to this is that you may not be able to eat your whole food meal 60 minutes later. For me, I gotta wait a good 2 hours after such a post workout shake. It all depends how you view the importance of eating the whole food meal 60 minutes after the post workout shake.

Cool I will up the protein and carb intake. After my workout for simple carbs I eat canned fruit(1/2 can 60 carbs and 240 cals). I do not care about having a big meal an hour after the gym cause the reason I eat is because that is when I am hungry. Even when I up my protein/carb intake after the gym I am pretty sure I will be hungry an hour after that. I eat a lot of food. LOL

Which food has dextrose? I was told to eat simple carbs after the workout like fruit.

Dextrose or maltodextrine are very cheap. Bulk powder form.

I`d avoid fruit after training. It has fiber which slows down digestion and lot`s of the carbs come from fructose. I`d just go with gatorade. TrueProtein here sells dextrose by the lbs of about half the price you will pay for gatorade. But it dosen`t have the flavor. I intend on mixing half, half gatorade with dextrose from tp to save a few bucks.

WOW $2.72/lb for dextrose, I am getting some today. That is cheaper then getting canned fruit. $2.49 for 2 days vs $2.72 for 4.5 days. $100grams after the workout right? Can you mix it with protein?

So I just had my first shake with about 100g of dextrose. Wow is that ever sweet! I got it at a local shop in Calgary called Samson's supplements. It was $8 for 2lbs. I know that on line is cheaper but I figured with shipping it will cost the same. I feel huge already LOL.

So I have been mixing dextrose with my shakes for 3 days now and last night and tonight I am pretty sure the gas that was coming out of my ass was radio active. I made my wife gag. Any of you guys having the same problem or did you just **** with me and dextrose? Am I doing something wrong here?
My shake 50g protein and 80g dextrose. Last night I did all in one and got kinda sick. Tonight I did it in two 25/40 and 25/40 and was ok for about 5hrs but after that I straight up disrespected my toilet.

One thing with sugar is it can cause gas. You can either ramp up the dose slowly, or let your system get used to it. If you down that shake very fast it will cause gas. Sip it over a good 10 minutes if you want. But sometimes after leg day I just down it as I simply feel the need to... Milo even talks about using a certain amount of water for the carbs. I think he suggests a minimum of 750ml of water for 100 grams of carbs.

If I drink my post workout shake too fast with my protein I often have to take a messy shit after.

Cool I will do it as 2 shakes from now on and I mix it with a liter of water each time cause it's way too sweet if I don't use that much water. Thanks.

Was just about to say; you can find it there for as low as $0.50 a pound.

For me, post workout is the only time of the day when I have any sugar so I go with something that actually tastes good, which for me is usually grapefruit juice.

No I do not. I am currently an Engineering Technologist out of work like 1/2 of Calgary. This is why I had time and dedication to put on almost 30lbs of muscle in 5 months lol.

Ah the good old bulk barn. Yeah we don't have one in Calgary. I got 8lbs of dextrose now so I will search places before I buy it the next time. I have never taken dextrose before so I thought that only supplement stores would carry it.
