Anyone know whats going on with it?
I really am interested in picking up the iphone, but have held off to see if having some competition will drop rogers prices. What do you all think? Should I hold off? any ideas what bell/telus will be offering?
Thanks,
Brick

I know we have enough nerds in here to answer this.

Pricing on the Iphone is actually not controlled by the provider. Neither are the rate plans. This is probably the only phone where the manufacturer has full control. So why would Apple want Rogers to sell it at a lower price than Bell/Telus. They just want people to use their product and don't care who they hook it up with.
I agree . So if they both offer the same phone then you will want to go with the best plan .
Last time I checked Bell didn't offer the iphone . They have it now ?

OK, so I guess there is no point in waiting for telus/bell to release their iphone because it will be the exact same pricing for the plan/phone...
Guess I will just go for rogers then, was going to do that anyways.

Got the accessories for the iphone today, just a matter of days now for the phone itself. And Brick, the new bell HSPA network will give coverage to 93% of the Country, in the high speed 21mbit area, Rogers only has that in Toronto right now.

So you would recommend to wait for bell?
I am on bell now and getting a decent signal is absolutely brutal.
I was with fido (rogers network) and it was 100 times better.

Bell and Telus are both launching this HSPA+ network early next month and promise reception in 93% of the country which is a massive coverage area. Data speeds up to 21mbit. And of course ability to use any phone.
sweet...thanks for the info ^^^^

Do you work for one of the carriers to know this info? I know the hardware is subsidized and because of that the price is controlled by Apple, however as far as I know the plan rates are solely created by the wireless providers.
Something to consider about going with Bell (*shudders*) or Telus, is that the technology they're using is still being rolled out. This is all new equipment, so there's a possibility there may be service interruptions as they iron out the technical details. On the other hand, Rogers 3G coverage has been very unreliable for people, especially in urban areas where there is high network traffic. Personally, I experienced dropped called and difficulty connecting to the internet numerous times. It became quite frustrating. As long as they can manage to offer reliable service, it's a better way to go.
Telus has released their plan pricing, and it's not really that much cheaper than Rogers/Fido. [edit: sorry, n/m.. dunno where i thought i read that]
