This is what I found...
KFC is promising to spice things up this weekend by offering free chicken at more than 700 of its restaurants across Canada.
But it also promises to avoid any repeat of the near-riots that broke out at some U.S. outlets after they ran out of chicken during a similar promotion in May.
"They got in a little over their heads in the U.S. We set it up so consumers will not be disappointed," said Steve Langford, president of Priszm Income Fund, the largest KFC Canada franchisee. "We hope that there are long lineups and lots of people; we want to get this product into the most mouths as possible."
The promotion, which takes place between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. on Sunday, is aimed at introducing Canadians to the restaurant's new "Boneless Chicken Fillets."
Langford said KFC is prepared to hand out more than 250,000 pieces of chicken on Sunday.
If that's not enough, staff will hand out raincheques, he said.
The American giveaway was promoted on the Oprah Winfrey Show, spurring millions to run to their nearest KFC to get a free two-piece chicken meal. Stores were forced to lock their doors because of the overwhelming demand.
KFC is known for serving up publicity stunts. Earlier this week, an actor posing as KFC founder Col. Harland Sanders talked his way into secure areas at the United Nations building in New York, where he demanded recognition of the "Grilled Nation" as the 193rd UN member state.
In May, the company ran a Mother's Day promotion asking customers to submit photos of their "mom-themed" tattoos in exchange for free chicken.
And in 2006, KFC parent Yum! Brands Inc. created a giant logo of Colonel Sanders in a patch of desert near Rachel, Nevada, that it claimed could be seen from space.
Food trend analyst Dana McCauley said she expects the promotion to have a huge payoff for KFC.
"They are smart. It's a very good thing to do. Giving away free stuff always gets people's attention," she said.
"They are really creative marketers."
Fast food competition is increasing as more restaurants and grocery stores enter the market. Loblaws, Loeb and even some hotels such as the Brookstreet in Kanata offer take-home meals.
To keep their brand names in the minds of consumers, food chains are turning to creative marketing. McCauley said several promotions have been offered in recent weeks in the U.S., where people are more likely to eat out and competition is fierce. Boston Market recently gave away chicken and Taco Bell will hand out free tacos at its U.S. stores on Halloween.
I'll pass though as that chicken sits too heavy in my stomach.

Same here , but they are starting to sell grilled chicken in the bucket. I think that would be alright.

I love free shit and KFC is great now and then.
But I cant see myself spending my Sunday afternoon in line with a bunch of overweight white trash cheapskates. For a piece of free chicken...at at least the food bank/soup kitchen hooks you up with a full meal lol.
Rather spend my Sunday ordering in ...watching football.
But thanks for the heads up ... I am sure people will be on this like a fat kid on a smartie ......in this case fat kid on fried chicken.

KFC is some of the greasiest, grossest chicken on earth but it smells so gooooood!!!
I have been known to eat 20 piece buckets and then complain for months afterwords.

A ruse to win over the Lower class.
Ceasar used to throw bread at the poor in Rome. They loved him for it.

Tex, you sound like a shill for KFC. What about all the saturated fat in that deep-fried-grease-dripping skin covering those vulture pieces? Yuck, I'd rather stick a hot needle in my eye.

Disgusting garbage.
Every time I ate at KFC when I was younger I got food poisoning. EVERY SINGLE DAMN TIME.
They use very trashy quality, hormone and anti-biotic laced chickens in sub-standard conditions. Disgusting food. You couldn't pay me to eat that shit.
YOU ARE WHAT YOU EAT!
