i am going shopping in the morning and i had my heart set on a 7mm mag, just because i like a good flat shooter that doesn't make a big mess, then a buddy convinced me i should try a 300. anyone have any first hand experience with a 300 with an honest opinion? the only people i know that pack one are the guys that would shoot a 418 if someone local would sell them one.

I have a 7mm Mag and love it, can shoot it all day long...honesty don't think you need a 300...7mm shoots flatter anyway and to me it should really come down to comfort first. I shot a 375H&H one time and after three shots gave back to its owner who proccedded to shoot it and the scope cut him under his eye...stupid.

I like both the 300 and the 7mm but own and prefer the 7mm MAG myself, it's take down a large Bull Moose the same as a 300 Mag......could come out hunting with me and I'll prove it ha

i just brought home a tika t3 lite 300wm, i am going to sight it in shortly, it should be fun. i haven't sighted in a gun for years. my old beat up 308 is going to go back into the closet for another 10 years lol.

sweet ass rifle dude, whatcha going for this season?

...also the old saying "couldn't hit the broad side of a barn" is actually true specially when your siting in a new scope lol, never did believed it before then

personally I think you made the right choice bro. Not knocking the 7.... but the .300 has more options available in bullets, loads, and slightly heavier bullet at a slightly higher speed is often available in factory loads... offering a more stable shot through trash with more hit.

7 and .300wm are almost identical though. 7mm is a nicer calibre to shoot recoil wise

i just ran nine shots through it, clicked the scope down 2 clicks and it is grouping nice at 150 yards. it still needs fine tuned but its getting dark out and i probably freaked my neighbors out haha.

it kicks a bit more than my old 7 i used to have but i think i will be putting a bigger pad on it.

i have an elk and a whitetail tag, but the pressure around here is insane right now so there isn't anything moving at all in the daylight.

pachmeyer decelerator makes the best, but you only need a pad for bench shooting. YOu hammer off a round at a deer or moose and you wont feel shit.
