Do not apply for your old age pension...
Apply to be a refugee. It is interesting that the federal government provides a single refugee with a monthly allowance of $1,890.00 and each can get an additional $580.00 in social assistance for a total of $2, 470.00.
This compares very well to a single pensioner who, after contributing to the growth and development of Canada for 40 or 50 years, can only receive a monthly maximum of $1,012.00 in old age pension and Guaranteed Income Supplement.
Furthermore if you had the wisdom to have a RRSP and made other income generating investments you may have earned the right to receive nothing from the Federal Government as they claw your Old Age Pension back because in their opinion you do not need it!!!!!
Maybe our pensioners should apply as refugees!

Let's send this thought to as many Canadians as we can and maybe we can
Get the refugees cut back to $1,012.00 and the pensioners up to $2,470.00,
So they can enjoy the money they were forced to submit to the Canadian government for those 40 to 50 years.

Yep we get ass****ed again by the govt.

Here another good example- For many of the jobsites I work on a piss test is required before I can work, then collect cheque, pay huge income tax to govt, then they give it to some ****er on wefare who sits around and does rec drugs. The same drugs that if I used I would be terminated from work. How that for irony.

I've never expected to collect anything from our Gov. . As much as i love this country it has for a very long time maintained a policy that the productive and ambitious must be punished..

Remember that the refugee only gets the money for a short time. Do not turn this into a black and white issue as it is not.

I know several guys who came from Sudan and went from burying bodies as teenagers to going to high school. It is tough to go to school, work full time, and to pay living expenses when one has no support network.

Instead of cutting money back on refugees, why not increase the pension? It seems ludicrous to cut back money on society's most vulnerable people; refugees. These are people who have left health on earth in places like Sudan, Rwanda, or Haiti and need a chance to be able to contribute positively to Canada.

I kind of agree however, there should be a program in place where refugees earn the money the government gives them. They could be assisting in cleaning up parks, streets etc. I could even use a valet at my home. I think that's a lot of money to be giving someone with no responsibilities, hell I don't know if I would work getting $1800 a month. Just like every other thing the government does there are huge gaps in every program....and we PAY for it.

Or how about they pay that money back after they get on their feet. My son is working like a dog trying to pay off his student loan, he doesn't get a "get out of jail free card".

All refugees I know work and go to school. The problem is that often they get abused in the work place. Somehow the manager at McDonald's "forgot" to tell my one friend that he has the right to take a break.
Another one of my friends was burned while working a fryer and the manager did not tell him that he could go to the hospital. The kid had 3rd degree oil burns on his arms!
They work in addition to going to community college and eventually start paying taxes. One of my aforementioned friends ended up getting a well paying job at the bank after going to school and started paying taxes like every other honest Canadian.

Abuse is inherent in any system, but instead of wondering why refugees get more than pensions as why do pensioners not get as much as refugees?
One has to approach this problem from a different angle.
The issue of student debt is entirely different from that of immigration as the present federal government tends to regard post secondary as the sole domain and responsibility of the provinces.

We can play pass the buck all day, regardless, there is a segment of our society that pays the price for the privilege of being Canadian, while another is allowed to blatantly leach of the system.

The biggest problem I see is more with immigrants in general. I think it's great that people come to Canada to make a better life for themselves and their families BUT there's nothing I hate more than people who use Canada as a stepping stone. They come here for free/cheap education, they work as much as possible BUT then they take their money and go back to their original country (or any other country). That bothers me, if you can make a living here then you can spend your money here and help our economy as well.

Funny you mentioned this...I had an Asian guy just mention that his parents run a Nail place. But the majority of the income they keep/make under the table. He said that his parents are going to move back to korea or some country like that where they originate from. Not sure why..maybe they have used up all there loop holes Canada has to offer.

No worries you are man enough to admit that you made an error. I totally get what you are saying about people abusing the system. It is a shame that we have so much trash in our country that does it.
Did you know Christmas comes once EVERY month in Verdun, Quebec?

I think part of it has to do with people wanting to move home. Lots of maritimers and saskies went to Alberta, made some money, and now are selling their homes and moving back because that is where they are from.

However I do think it is stupid that immigrants will come to Canada and then bring their old parents for health care or start demanding we change our society to fit them (granted that most immigrants are content with our society)
