x2 Do not do it bro as it is VERY counter productive ;) not only that but you will be leaving yourself wide open for injuries as well..

yeah its true, best not to put your body through more stress. I have been off this week with a cold/flu. Can`t wait to rip into the weights again.

I drop volume but keep lifting unless I have a fever. I won't lift with a fever but once the fever breaks I'm back at it.

Depends how sick, but I usually drag my ass there and see how it goes, sometimes you can have a decent workout, sometimes I go home early. Got to listen to yopur body in the gym not on the couch.

squats and deads are going to suffer but the little lifts usually go just fine.

I agree to a certain degree, I stay home only if I am too sick to that point where your whole body is sore from the sickness, other than that I don't stay home.....but it's pretty hard to determine (of course) at what point anyone other than yourself in particular should or should not work out :)

........be like telling someone to go ahead and use a gram of test a wk because you can type of thing.

Dont do it because you spread it to everyone else

You compromise your immune system when you work out when you're sick. You need your immune system strong and uninterrupted to fight whatever illness is affecting your body. If you do a strenuous workout while sick, your immune system now has to now not only fight off the virus, but also aid in repairs from the workout and will prolong your sickness.

It's best to rest and wait it out.

i think if you go into the gym thinking "im sick thus ill be weaker" then yes dont go. but ive actually had good workouts with regards to strength when i have a cold....im not talking about deathly ill either just when i have a cold

I see your point as I'm guilty of it myself to be honest, so long as of course I'm not "deathly ill" lol though I do sometimes hold off for say my wk that I take every couple mths and skip it when it is time :beer

I also train when im sick, when i get colds they tend to linger for 6-8 weeks and If i took that much time off, id be a popcicle stick. I also find intense training to "burn off" the cold a bit too and symptoms are reduced.

The flu, especially this year, is different though. Dont train if you have the swine flu, thats just mean. You could literally kill someone.

When I have a cold I find that if I load up on ephies and have a fast paced workout with some cardio it actually helps to break up congestion. I wouldn't train with the flu or anything else worse than a cold.

If its flu and i cant move or are throwing up bad ill stay home and eat vitamin c like candy. Ill take off few days until i can at least function and try to keep up and eat as much as i can that i can handle at the time. But generally i listen to my body and take as much rest as i need and not any more.
