What with all the break up talk lately, thought id ask how many other dudes (or ladies) out there have a "one that got away"?
Dunno how common it is really, so not sure what kind of response ill get.
Anyways I dated this one chick who was pretty much perfect... beautiful, smart, high aspirations, great family
I was young (still am i guess lol) and was dumb enough to do lil shit that made us fight all the time... never invited her out to party with me, always sort of distracted by something else, she said i never acted like I "appreciated her"
Lost her over stupid shit like that and still regret it... never found a girl yet that measures up.
Anyone else have this experience?

Thankfully, don't have that experience. Happily (most of the time...lol) married to the ONE for me and I'm going to keep him for a looooooong, loooong time:)

living with something you seriously regret is the worst experience you can have really
"if only..."
glad to see it hasnt happened to very many
I dont really get the whole concept of the one that got away. There are too many variables to know what would have ended up happening anyways. Life deals us cards and we play them but theres always another card to turn over until the day we die.

^^ really its about having that one chance where you had the PERFECT girl. but you dont realize it until its too late. Maybe there will be another who works for you but for some reason its just like noone is ever the same or can ever live up to it. hard to explain if you havent experienced it.
And you're right in saying that you never know what would have ended up happening in the end, but the regret you live with is that you didnt give it 100% so you dont know what could have been.

had a couple good ones get away, but they usually get forgotten when you find the next good one.
If I had to pick the most painful, it was my H.S. sweetheart. I broke her heart, and regretted it for a long time. She married, got divorced, and then recently remarried to a ******. I think I ruined her.

I think I'm in the middle of the "one that got away"... well actually the end.
Was seeing a balls hot figure competitor and was having a great time with her, we've only been together about a month. But, She said she felt pressured into sex and felt smothered by me... and the smothering part is about as embarassing as it gets for me.
I'd had a cruch on this girl for about 2 years, and saw her at the gym all the time, but never spoke to her cause I wasn't there to pick up girls... I broke up with my gf a while back, and I guess she heard about it so she came over and initiated the whole thing. I really liked her, and everything we did was a lot of fun, even when it shouldn't have been. But she's super busy and i think trying to find a way to balance everything was getting to her. Besides me screwing things up and trying to bring things along too fast.
But those are the breaks I guess.

oh i see her a few times a week at school....we built up a lot together this yr but then she ****d up...i got her flowers and tickets to the movies...then she went all quiet and ignoring me for like 5 days after that i was like ok **** it....ever since we talk and shit but she lost the admiration i had for her and what could have been...and i think she knows it but whatever
I thought it was my ex of 4 years. We started hanging out every once and a while since a year or two ago, and it reminded me of what a psychopath she is. In all honesty I wanted to tell her off, and let her know that I cant even stand being in the same room as her, but I would rather be nice and say "that was a wonderful time we had due to our history". In tern she told me that I am the cockyest and most shameless person in the world, and she doesnt know what happened to me, but she hates it.
We both agreed that we are different people now and it would never work, but I still get the odd message asking for the old me back. As much as I miss putting all her needs before mine, and getting screamed every day because I was her acting emotional tampon I think I will have to pass.
Exes are exes for a reason.
PS. I was even nice enough not to tell her that I ****ed her favorite teacher.
If you are in T.O. BBbox I will hook you up with her. She would love a panzy like you :)

maybe next time she texts you asking for the old you back you can tell her you ****ed her fav teacher.... its a nice one to pull outta your sleeve when ya need it.
If I wasnt such an upstanding gentleman I would pretend to be the old me, **** her then tell her right after. Possibly I could visit the teacher on the way then go visit her without showering the teacher off of me that way I could ask her how her teacher tasted.
I cant really hold much malice for things she did to me years ago. I am trying to be nicer and not such a bridge burner anymore, but it is hard lol

hehe, i hear ya man... it feels better to not be so malicious.. in the long run anyway.
To the OP, I had an almost identical situation... been apart for almost 2 yrs now and it still bothers me every single day... she is also the mother of my lil girl... i've tried dating and stuff since, trying to get my mind off it but all to no luck. She has been with someone now for almost a year and it looks like no matter how much I plead my case, this guy isn't going anywhere. It sucks so bad, especially when you know its just cuz u were young and immature, and could have avoided the whole thing. I've kinda stopped going on dates and stuff lately, just no desire. She's still the only person I want to be with and can picture myself with in the future. Sucks bro!

I probably shouldn't be giving advice. But, you guys need to flip your situation around. You have to think of it as you are the one that got away from her. I know how it feels to lose "the one" but I think this "the one" is bullshit. There are hundred's of "the one"'s around the entire world for you to go out and discover. You will not discover them by sitting back and doing nothing about it. Go out and discover the new and improved "one" for your. If you and her don't workout: wash, rinse, repeat.

I dont want to be hating on the girls because I know theres alot of successful women out there, but the ones I meet these days wow haha, working at the mall, bar or a gym. they look good but not keepers
Some of you might remember an ex of mine that was a board member on CJM and MN a few years ago. She was my "one that got away"... we dated for 3 years and I thought she was the "greatest person" I ever met.
A couple of months ago, I met "the one I won't let get away". Makes the old one easily forgettable by comparison. I guess sometimes you put buckles on your hat and shoes and become a settler, not knowing how good things can be when you find the right woman.
Up until 2 months ago, if the ex had called me, I would have come running. Now, not a chance.

I used to think I had one of the "ones that got away" but now I think back and nope. I treated him great, cooked all the time, bought him beers, paid for other crap, also had my own car......Only thing I ever asked for was to be told before he cheats, well ok i didnt say it that nicely lol. Long story short, at least he told me before he cheated.
There are some good women out there still that want to make something of their lives. I for one am hoping to start school again in the new year. When I grow up I want to be a paramedic. You just have to look in the places where you normally dont look and you will find the "one".
dont take it from me, cause I am also still looking for the "one" man lol

I will make one anyways. Black chicks rock. That is all.
My ex of four years was also black. I would post pics, but she is crazy and would hurt me if she found out, so only people on my msn can get them because she scares the hell out of me lol.
Even though we cant even stand being in the same room as each other we still love one and other. Its weird when you love someone, but dislike them. I guess we both just had very strong personalities, and neither one of us had it in us to back down. In some ways we might of been too much alike.
That was a short faggy moment by yours truelly durk.
I just couldn't deal will the culture Bro.
Never had that problem both black girls that I was with were so white washed that they didnt even date guys or have friends of their own race. Most likely because both were raised by single white mothers, so they didnt really have any roots. I cant relate to even dating someone much culturally different then myself.

My comment was about how you came down an any comment that could possibly be empowering to the white race so strongly, and then here you are posting how you broke it off with the black girl due to not being able to stomach the cultural difference.
Double standard....yet again
PS I dated a native girl seriously once, and have a few native friends. I am actually more pro-white then anti-<insert non white race here> and I see no problem with being pro-white, unlike every other non-white and bleeding-heart-apologist-white who despises the white race. Once again....racial double standard

When did I ever make a statement about culture? The only thread I have ever attacked you on was about recessive genes and why you wouldnt love a child of a different race if it was in fact yours. To be honest when I think about it culturally I find myself very intolerant. Espescially against middle eastern people trying to change our laws to suite their religious values, or any other cultures that do so.
Black people I dont really have an issue with other than the fact that a lot of them are cowards who fight 10-1. I absolutely hate most wiggers except for a couple of close friends lol.
There are too many imagrant types here espescially in my areas of ont. That bitch, and whine constantly about how they hate Canada. I for one wish they would just get back on their banana boats and **** off.
On the other hand I know many people of pretty much every culture, that I like and have respect for. Maybe you could call them white washed, but I have no problem with someone that respects the culture of the existing Canadians.
I also do think its bs that we cant act proud of being white without sounding racist.
