View Full Version : Does facebook piss anyone else off?

Or any social networking site for that matter. I posted on someone's status that instead of her buying some expensive resistance pulley machine (I think it's that Couture one that goes on the door) for her husband for christmas she might better invest in a gym membership. Some dude goes ripping on me that it doubles your weight in resistance and if you wanna work legs you just go for a walk outside. But that's not really the point. My point is people shit talking to you when they don't even know you. Like most people, I grew up before the internet. If you talked shit you risked a pretty big ass kicking. Now it's just arguing with no consequences. Pisses me off.
Add to the fact that people also stalk you on these sites. I deleted most of my list. A few people message me asking why. I said you never once messaged me, they said they just want to read my profile and follow my life. ****ing creepy.
I ended up just deleting my account. If someone wants to talk to me they can do it in person, and frankly there is nobody out there I really want to talk to anyway. Even with my workout friends I'm the guy they try fishing a source out of but when they all go out to watch UFC or a game they never ask me. I'm only important to them in the gym.

Facebook sucks, all people do is cry out for attention.

I despise facebook. my biggest problem with it is people rant and rave or discuss plans past and present and advertise to all of their shared friends.
Then the stupidity is watching people get upset over comments made online. If you don't want to have it be public don't advertise it.

The whole idea of facebook/myspace is pretty lame, I dont see much reason to use it other than whoring yourself out on the internet. To me it just seems alot more natural to talk to people directly I dont even like talking on the phone if I dont have too.

I'm the same way ^^ face to face is legit, I do a lot of texting if I must chat from a distance ;)
I totally agree with all of you guys.....I feel as though Facebook is breeding a type of person that feels like they can say whatever they want to whoever they want.......just type and press enter...that's it.....making people creepy, passive agressive and a whole host of other things of which I feel they would most likely not be if it didn't exist. The social networking arena is taking to a whole new level and shaping a new way in which people interact. Sure there can be positives to it but for most of it and the way it is being used ......to attract attention and so on is just plain bizzare in my eyes.......

I've definately noticed a change in people since the internet became a neccessity in life. More shut ins, people developing anxiety disorders, pedophiles. From facebook alone I realized a few people I knew were trying to pick up 14-15 year old girls. From other countries no less. Completely disgusting. I also don't care about someone I haven't seen in 15 years.

Facebook is the devil... people have replaced face to face interaction with it... instead of actually meeting with people have eating or having a good time, people sit at home and take pictures of themselves... i have this incredible urge to go on their and make fun of everything that people say.. but i know people take it personally so I cant... damn to world... its a good way to creep on people though... i like to check on old friends and make sure im bigger than them.

I know these two guys that were entering a comp and the one guy was showing his progress the whole way, then the other guy posts his pic like 5 days out with "____ don't even bother showing up". ****ing classic. I never found out if the other guy ended up going or not because he deleted his account very soon after.

while I agree with everything you guys are saying, facebook can have its place. I only use it because my family is so far away that its nice to be able to share pictures and videos with them and vice versa. Easier than e-mailing.
I do only have a limited number of people and even some of the people I have change their status every 30 minutes...(going for a walk, taking a crap, walking my dog)...It's a bit much.

I find it good to keep in touch with old friends who have moved away and family.
I have a lot of childhood friends that moved to the US and facebook is the way I mostly communicate with them. It's also how I know who's getting married, had a kid etc. And every now and then we plan a reunion through facebook.
But there is also the attention hogs there too and the aggressive marketers that get annoying.

I hate and love face book. I hate that fact that most of the people I know make useless comments like "going for a walk", "I'm bored", "I have a tummy ache today" . WHO CARES! However, it is good for setting up team events, social outings and mentioning worthwhile news such as, "getting married" , "having a baby", "moving out of town".

I completely agree. A lot of my gf's are all over the place, when we can get together we do. But its a great way to see their little ones grow up and find out whats going on in their lives.

I just had to block a bitch who apparently wasnt over me, and couldnt deal with the fact that I was having a baby and going to marry a different girl. She made a comment, likely drunk the other night..... Now I am setting up limited profile for everyone who isnt family or close.
I hate facebook too

facebook is good for updates with ur clubs and team sports, beats the old tree calls, post one thing 4 everyone to see, but most people are whores on it, the cellphone updates r the worst, sometimes chicks post vacation pics in bikini's good 4 a whack

I use Facebook a lot. I grew up mainly in the Ottawa Valley as a military brat. All my old friends are still there so its a way of me keeping in touch with them, plus none of my family lives near me so again we can keep in touch share photos blah blah.. I hate talking on the phone.
I went back to the Valley for a hockey tournament this past March with a bunch of guy's i grew up playing with, all because of Facebook.. But ya i mainly just browse/stalk on there.

I put mine back up but trimmed my friends list from about 500 people to 44. Only inner circle now. I like the site again now. No drama with it anymore.
I'm so glad facebook came out after I was too old to embrace it. So much sluttery the younger guys have to deal with these days with their girlfriends.
No one should ever get married in this day and age.

I call it **** face book. C`ause that`s what they all are. A bunch of **** faces... But it fills the gap that this attention whore society needs. I almost feel sorry for them.
