Please give me your best input on breathing. I have my own idea here, but just like most of my other threads, I like to hear what you boys have to say also. Thnx,

Kloan you dork. :P For the mentally handicapped, breathing while lifting. Any lift you choose to leave some input on.

Deadlift, breathe into stomach hold it in, drop down pick up weight and lock out, put weight back down, breathe out.

Squat, breathe into stomach hold it in, squat down and back up breathe out.

Basically hold your breath in your stomach for the entire range of motion (both eccentric and concentric) for every heavy lift you do. High rep lifting is slightly different

Uh oh.. I do the exact opposite. I breath out as I lift. Not good?

... breathing out will not keep your core stable. You want to take in a belly breath an hold the air in there to stabllize your middle. There is an inherent increase in blood pressure that goes with this and it isn't a multi-rep technique but it will let you lift more ( read up on vasalva technique )

I actually try to hold my breath for the entire workout. I find it easier if I'm under water though....

Im just messin with ya buuuuuuuuuuuuuudy (*Pauly Shore voice*)

I find for me, an extremely slow controlled exhale works when going for heavy lifts. Holding my breath makes me too light headed.

Agreed if I hold my breath while squatting i will probably pass out and wake up with a broken leg or worse. I always slowly exhale on the lift

It'll definitely make you light headed if you don't hold your breath in your belly. If you let your air push up to your chest and throat, you will pass out.

Thats why 20 rep squats are so much fun, after the first 10 the breathing is almost as painful as the weight!
