Does anyone else do these? I do them single arm with a dumbell to a split stance.

I don't see a lot of guys in the gym doing these...well...I see no one else actually. So I am curious what a good weight is.

Thoughts? I am around 95lbs or a 100lbs right now. Maybe I could get a bit heavier if the ****ing hand grips weren't so huge at the gym i'm at. I feel this thing is gonna fly outta my hands lol.

i use a 35 lb kettlebell for sets of 12 x 2 and a 45 pounder for less reps..

Do you utilize a swinging motion with the kettlebell? I used to use them at my old gym - this one i'm at now doesn't have them.

I am going to start doing them with a barbell like this:

Looks like it would be a hell of a workout just trying to stabilize it.

i was doing these all summer and i worked up to 50lbs super strict form with no swinging at all. definitely a good shoulder and back workout for me on those.

I used to do em but after awhile working out somewhere where you cant drop the weights I found it really rough on the joints. Still a beastly exercise!

They are incredibly easy once you realize 90% of the contributing muscles to a barbell snatch are still functioning and you are only using like 100lbs. They are more of a stability "look at me I am cool" thing then anything.

I like em though.

The problem with this and most of the overhead lifts is that gyms don't have bumpers or platforms. I find that even with powercleans that if you try to control the weight on the way down you are begging for an injury.

Overhead lifting is critical to good core strength and most gyms have almost entirely killed it.

If they do have a platform it's usually incredibly beat.

I was doing them for a bit. I think I was doing 50s, because I was doing them at home and that's as high as my weights were. I'm not sure how many reps I was getting with them.
I was doing them more so for explosiveness and conditioning.
