I'm two weeks into keto... have read numerous times about cheat/refeed meals. Are they necessary?

How does it affect ketosis? Does it take a few days to get back into it, or is one meal not enough to affect it?

if following it to the letter, 8-12 hours ot get back into ketosis after a 500 gram refeed meal

Cheat meals are there to keep your body from turning down the thermostat on you. If you don't stoke the fire occassionally your metabolism will slow down.

definatly refeed atleast every 3 or 4 weeks or your metabolism will have slowed down so much you will sweat when you eat and strength will drop off and all sorts of nastiness.
the first time i tried keto i got so excited when i seen the results i stayed in keto for months at a time and i regret every day of it now in hindsight. i still use keto but i refuse to stay in for more than 8 days.

Alright, so what are some of the ways you guys like to do it? I'm not sure what to eat... I know it has to be protein/carbs and low in fats... just the one meal though, right? Anything good to go or should I try to eat certain foods? Man I've got wicked cravings for just about everything I can't eat, I dunno what to eat when I can eat it...

Lots of pancakes and syrup is my current meal of choice
Last meal of the day.. eat until you're full

Ok, I'm confused. How many grams of carbs am I aiming for? Is it only one meal? Does it have to be my last meal of the day? I was thinking about going out for dinner to an italian restaurant... I'd be eating another meal or two after that one.
Is it once a week that I do this?
