View Full Version : Allergic Reaction to Testosterone

I wasn't quite sure what was going on but after half a dozen injections the effect is really very consistent. Mild sinusitus, throat swelling up, nice hacking cough that goes on for hours.

Relieved significantly by an anti-histamine.

I know it is neither the benzyl alcohol nor the benzyl benzoate that is causing the reaction, and I'm fine with GSO, Peanut and cottonseed oils so that leaves the active ingredients in the gear. This is the only testosterone I've had that has this effect and I've got 2 others on tap that don't cause the same reaction.

Does anyone understand what might cause a histamine reaction to testosterone?

only thing i can think of would be a reaction to one of the solvents. this is assuming that your gear isn't contaminated! an allergy can develop at any time but you said the other test youve got doesnt produce the same reaction....I'd toss it and move on if the others are working fine. pm me...im curious to know what this is......

It's not the solvents.
I'm neurotic and refilter all gear at .22 microns. It's not dirty.

I've got a note off to the vendor asking this question as well.

I'm not going to cause a tempest in a teacup by starting rumors so I'll just keep the name to myself.

The gear itself is high ba/bb, cottonseed or gso based on looking at the colour and the general muscle discomfort post injection.

My question still holds as to what might cause a histamine reaction?

I didn't believe it was possible but after doing a quick search on google, it seems it is possible to actually be allergic to testosterone. Which would suck big time.

Personally I would change up gear to test something else and if I would get the same reaction, I would consider it to be the test. Maybe even try a test suspension in a water based solution to be sure it's not the oil.

Also have an anti-histamine on hand as you can get hyper sensitive being constantly exposed to an allergen. Did you get any hives? Angioedema (swelling of fingers, lips, eyelid, etc)? They usually go hand in hand with exposure to an allergen in the blood stream. Whatever it is, you have to find out as it can get dangerous if you become hyper allergic.

I find reactine to be the best anti-histamine for me.

Good luck T.

I get All of the Symptons you noted for a few days 2/10 times.

Others have referrered to this as their version of "test flu".
I've had it quite bad in the past, so much so that I had to stay home from work.

I noted that (for me anyways), chewing Vit-C during the day helped alot.

Hope you feel better!

I would also sugest trying human grade gear too. The test suspension idea may work too.

The allergic reaction is specific to this vial/batch not all test-e thank goodness. My own home brew causes no reaction at all. I've got my anti-histamine close at hand.

I've got an email out to the lab to find out if there's anything in the mix different than I normally use.

I found mention that when attaching the ester using carboxylic acid that there can be unreacted carboxylic acid that may cause these symptoms (low quality powders) but have not yet confirmed this to be true.

It may yet turn out that there is a solvent in the mix that I am best avoiding.

I will post more when I have useful info.

EO + high BA/BB do that to me too. Time to start looking for some new gear.

One cycle I would break out so badly that if you touched my skin, I would get raised lines and rashes ALL over my body in an instant. It looked like something out of a horror movie!!!

I think it is pretty apparent that it is not the test. Could be a small % of guiacol, perhaps EO?

and the answer is .....

EO is not my friend.

I'm much too cheap and I have enough powder that this won't happen to me again in 2009.
