so i was readng up on the bill starr 5x5 and i am confused.
it is 5 sets of 5 reps starting low and increasing in even % untill you reach your max 5 reps on fifth set?
and are you only doing squat, bench and barbell ? on the one day no other excersises ?
this seems like a very small workout i am not arguing with it just making sure i am correct before i start something.

i read it but it is a 3 day workout plan. am i doing my own stuff in between or just working out 3 days. and is it only the excerisses listed i do or add my own as well
I added a tiny bit more bicep work when I did it because thats my weak point but other than that I did it exactly as its shown there. Its not really a program that you should tinker with. It takes a whole lot more out of you than it you think.

ok i will give it a try just seemed to "plain" or non time consuming for something to have great results

i did the 5x5 this summer for about 7 weeks
my lifts went up.
yes its only 3 days a week but its a solid program IMO
go to the bottom of Bill Star's page n download the spreadsheet to plug in all your lifts it calculates the %'s for you!

I have done it 3X and it always works.
It is possible to do a 4 day a week split but I don't think that you can do that for more than 6 weeks as you CNS will be fried.

this seems like a very small workout i am not arguing with it just making sure i am correct before i start something. this is a HUGE workout if you are putting the effort in.....you will need to deload after 4-6 weeks or your cns will be totally fried......

The 5x5 is everthing the guys say it is! Nothing to add except my own experience with it. It kicks the shit out of me, it might not seem like much on paper but when put into practice it always left me NOT wanting more, i was done for the day! I never added any more to it, didn't feel the need too.. Enjoy, it's an awesome program!

muscle tone/definition is an effect of bodyfat relative to muscle mass.
Please read over the program several times (THE WHOLE SITE) and try to thoroughly understand it
