just got home, to find out my gym was broken into, ransacked and robbed. so i am curently dealing with it. all orders will be sent later today that are outstanding. i will also include a gift for the slow delivery time.

That really sucks. Consider getting video surveillance and advertising the fact that you have it. Its a lot cheaper than it used to be, and I don't know if you remember my story over on Nexus about the kid with the fireworks in the mailbox, but it sure helps to see who did it. And when they know you have it, they don't come back.

We had a strange noise one night and awoke to see flame coming off the hood of my car in the driveway. When we went outside to investigate, it turned out that the source of the noise was our mailbox, ripped off the wall and bent out of shape by the explosion of 2 aerial fireworks bombs. Not just any mailbox, but one we had paid a decent dollar for, wanting something nice to compliment out house. I called up a buddy who is in the video surveillance business and he lent me some equipment. Wireless IR cameras and pc video recording hardware. Well, you wouldn't believe, but the perpetrator came back and did it a second time. Rewound the tape, so to speak, and there he was on video. Pretty much knew exactly who it was, as he'd been over to our house the night before and I could compare video images. Its been great peace of mind knowing who did it and confronting him. A young punk who aspires to become a cop, of all people. That's pretty much it in a nutshell.

What kind of system to you have. I am looking at setting something up with 3-4 cams (wireless and night vision). Any advice or models to look for? Is it a computer based on or just connected to a recorder? I'm looking for a computer based one. Maybe even create a webcam style site where I can view it anywhere in the world.

My buddy owned a bar that had 11 cameras all web based. Just logged in and decided what format to view the cameras in and presto. At the time he was being watched by the police and harassed by OC, so he stayed up in the "control center" as we called it, hours at a time,chewing his fingernails and watching the feeds. I think he was addicted to it.

That's exactly the type of system that my friend company makes. They have software that allows a PC computer based system to record from many sources simulataneously, compress the data for efficient storage, and allow remote viewing over the internet. It basically uses (at least the one he gave me) an interface card that takes up to 4 inputs from camera. The software allows configuration of cameras, and movement of those on a servo(?), if set up that way. I would recomend CCD night vision cameras for the best resolution. I'll look and tell you who makes the software for them. I think its on the software itself. Sorry, just checked. I think the name is on the hardware board. I remember finding the manufacturor on the web and they supply the software. My friend's company probably just does some labelling of the software.

well i am almost caught up. at first i thought it was a employee i fired the friday before i left as i couldnt figure out at first how the door was breached until i took the time to really look at it. last night i spent 20minutes looking at the door and talking to myself. and bingo i thought of something and tried it out myself to see if it worked and it did.

the window vent above the door was broken, if someone was sitting on someones shoulders or better yet standing on the door handle, they could easily reach thru the vent with a stick or trim that is in your house and push the lever down unlocking the door and bingo your in. well i got the ladder out, and tried the therory using the same stick and trim they left behind and whola, it worked. rest is history. they opened door, alarm went off limiting what they could take, which ended up being float($100), 16x 2lb tubs of proetin powder, and 6 tubs of creatine,a 5lb protein tub and couple signed checks, my credit card number,the combo for the safe. before leaving the same way they came in. cops arrived lights were off and door was still locked. as the stick will unlock the door to gain entry, but only a key can actually unlock the bolt.

so now i have to get that lever off there, or they could do it again. plus replace the window, already replaced the safe combo,cancelled credit card #, and gave the cops the check stub numbers in case they cash the checks. in the end i will decide if its worth to claim on insurance or not once all the bills come in.

only thing i can think of is drug users, tons of them in this small city. and protein powder be a hard re-sell but could be used as food for a crack addict, leaves more money for crack. in the end small city here, so hopefully i find out before the police do (3 sets of fresh prints on the till, 2 will probably be staff that worked that day) so i can do some street justice!

everyones orders where sent yesterday or today. and i think most emails and pms have been answered.
