Hi all,

Let's just say I'm a newbie to this site and to the bodybuilding world. I used to be a powerlifter, but after a shoulder injury, I've been told I'll never be allowed/able to lift that heavy again, so that's out the window!

So, I decided to try bodybuilding and here I am! I hired a trainer at the gym who's started me up on a program to lengthen my muscles I guess. Mostly lighter weights at 3 sets of 15 reps.

Anyways... I'm hoping to compete in April, and I still have an extra 25-30 pounds to lose (long before the comp - hoping to have it off by the end of January).

Just wondering if anyone has any hints, suggestions, etc to get me started???

Thanks! :)

Seems hiring a trainer was the best thing you could do!

BUMP ^^

This is the DNA and primal components to a successful start.

Cross training will allow you to diversify and expand muscle knowledge (make you stronger, and more versatility)

Hello!!
I third the motion on cardio, diet and weight training!!

If your trainer is into Cross fit and you don't feel like she/he will help you get the physique you want... then find a trainer who has trained eiother Bodybuildrs or other women with the type of physique you desire!
Ih... and come back here lots!! there are a TONNE of experienced Bodybuilders on this site who are always willing to help out a newb!

Try to read some advice on this forum site as well as to other site as you are doing right now. One of the important things to consider is to have communication to people that mutually interested with what you want. I think that's the most important thing. Good Luck and have fun.

Hi! :welc

If you were a powerlifter then you have a good base. I don't understand why your trainer wants to lengthen your muscles. For bodybuilding you don't want long, lean muscles but big, full looking muscles.

IMO You may want to consider finding another trainer who knows more about bodybuilding.
